996 GT3 Replacement Battery
My batteries now 6 years old and beginning to fail. Any recommendations for a maintenance free type replacement? Sears has a Diehard AMG size 94 with a 36 month warranty for $180.
Thanks,
David

Lite Weight Battery
I was thinking about a lite weight battery as a replacement since mine was getting old. www.voltphreaks.com. They make lithium ion batteries for street/racing applications. I was looking at the VPH750.
My thinking this would be an easy way to save 20 lbs without really any modifiction to the car. The battery is $899 + you need to manfacture a bracket. I am suprised I have not heard more about the battery on the forum.
I have only seen one in use for a 997.2 GT3 and the owner had a cool suit + data acquisition as part of the setup.
Anyone else have experience this this company/battery?

I went with the Rennline/Odyssey 925 and battery mount kit. http://www.rennline.com/Battery-Moun.../products/235/
If car is driving everyday, than no need for battery tender. If the car sits for two days or more I hook up the battery tender. Works great for me.

My Voltphreaks VPH900 fitted using someone else's bracket design
Excellent battery, used all through winter with 7 days between starts and no problems. Only 1 time did it go into power save mode but not a problem as I've routed the remote into cabin. 1 quick push of the button, battery back on and enough power to easily crank.
Contact Tony @ Voltphreaks for any questions, great customer service.

I have the warranty paperwork at home. I bought it at Jegs. I'm sure you can look on their website and see what it says. I cleaned the battery tray and resprayed it black to give it a new look. To attach it, I drilled a hole in it and JB welded some blind nuts from the bottom. Get some long bolts at ACE hardware and you can use a 1/2" aluminum bar stock for the upper brace. Easy, light, and simple...

If you get a Die hard E2 group 47 it will fit in the OEM battery tray in the last hole. It's the same size as the battery they get in EU. I had it on my GT3, no problems and Sears will give you a lifetime warranty too
