Has that been your experience? I'm looking for a setup I can put on the highway for my once-per-year trek to Barber (5 hours each way) or Road Atlanta (7.5 hours each way) without much more harshness than stock. Based on what I've read, I'm thinking 600F/800R springs.
With quality remote canister shocks you can run some agressive rates. I use 1400/1500 mains with 150/250 tenders. Basically Cup rates but keep in mind that out cars are 500 lbs heavier so it works well. If the roads are decent it's useable on the street but it's predominantly a track set up. I would under no circumstances go less than 1000 with remotes unless you have a C&C cruiser..

When I ran 1000/1100 on JRZ Pros with the compression fairly soft, they rode much better than stock on the street. Downright cushy... That would be my choice for a car that you will drive 5+ hours to the track.

I run 600/800 and love them, but I never soften mine. I like them ready at all times. Very happy on street and track.
