Default GT3 Suspension questions

Hi All,

Some smart Porsche folks told me about a 6GT3RS that came with an suspension different from the standard GT3. Does anyone have any experience with this setup. Is it something to aspire to (for track usage) ?

Thanks

Ray

not really.

Shocks were valved slightly differently, springs were slightly stiffer (Less than 100lbs front and rear). bars were the same,

The components that would be nice to have but I'm still not sure they are worth the cost is the front uprights had better geometry for cars that are lower than stock height. They kept bump steer at the front to a minimum when lowered. Calipers are rotated downward slightly too if you really want to be critical about where that un-sprung mass is hanging.

There are much better solutions for dampers and springs unless you're getting a screaming deal on the RS stuff. Do toe arms front and rear with bump adjustment and you've got the geometry handled if you lower the car.

Thanks Andy,

The rear has a lot more changes than the front - the uprights are different, the rear cross member and the side cross member are all different, just wondering how that changes things...

Thanks

here you go...was looking for this earlier. This member went to lengths to do the conversion.

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...uspension.html

There's talk on Page 3 about how 997 geometry got even better than 996 RS stuff...and interesting that 996 RS components were better than 996 cup components.

What's that all really equate to???...good question. That Red car eventually went to another forum member who took off the RS shocks and springs and put Motons on the car and said it was another leap forward. Think this car now resides up in Canada

It is, and if I wasn't looking at $8K in brand new transmission parts the parts are arriving today and tomorrow (I hope), I would be all over this :-)

I am fixing/rebuilding it. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 5th gears were all damaged, that, a LW flywheel, and Guard LSD overhaul is my current project, but I am itching to do some suspension stuff as well, and 6/7GT3RS bits sounds sooooo nice...

I'd be interested to hear if it makes an impressionable change.

In the mean time $8k buys a lot of seat time, brakes and tires and since I've still got driver mod to work on.

Lots of guys have replaced many of the suspension components to the RSS stuff and said it is a VERY noticeable difference. We just did that to a customers 04 GT3 last week and were surprised at how many bushings were worn out on the stock stuff. The RSS components also give you so much more adjustability than stock that you can get a much better set up.

Even Leh Keen changed out everything on his 997.1 GT3RS to the RSS parts and said the difference was amazing.

The GT3 RS uses twin pinch bolts to secure the front damper body to the upright, the "standard" 996 GT3 uses one.

AFAIK your "standard" GT3 front Motons won't fit the RS uprights.
Furthermore KW list two different part numbers for their GT3 and the GT3RS kits.
