Default Good track/DE insurance Company?

Hi all. In 4 years I have never purchased track/de insurance but was thinking this might not be a bad idea this year for me since I am learning a new platform with no PSM. I did a search for track insurance and nothing seemed to pop up.

I know the best insurance is to drive within my limits which I plan to do, however, you just never know so I thought I would at least look into the options. I would appreciate anyones feedback who has or does hire this kind of insurance and what the best companies seem to be out there.

Thanks,

Tom

Have a look at this: http://pcahpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx

Saw it on the PCA website but have never used them.

+3 lockton, easy web interface, and easy folks to deal with moving around dates, i.e. cancelling a date you did't make and so forth.

Luckily I've never had to work with them on a claim.

I used Lockton for years- and they came through when I wrecked my GT3 last summer (control arm failure). Keep an eye on the deductibles when you shop, Lockton was 5% and ontrack? was 10% the last time I checked. Also be sure to itemize all of your add-ons in the declared value, little things like harnesses, seat brackets, etc. can add up fast.

Lockton has reduced its deductible. They are also a great company to deal with. They offer a multi event policy that greatly reduces the per event cost, and is easy to schedule the individual events. We run the 15 event block.

This coverage is for you, a second driver and even covers your instructor when they are driving you car as well.

How does this compare to finding normal auto insurance that has driver's education covered? Anyone have experience going that route?

I got a very reasonable quote for drivers education from an insurance company. Could not get comfortable if it would cover anything other than typical BMW/Audi/PCA type of drivers education event. Could not say for sure if it would cover things such as CHIN, MVP etc thus I did not take the risk. If the former was all I did would have taken it though.

Regular auto policies that cover ANY track driving are getting to be as rare as hen's teeth. There are some, but at least one I know of wants to handle ALL your insurance business, or none at all. Lockton is a great option for PCA DE events but thats all they cover, AFAIK.

Lockton covers much more than PCA. Go to their website and it will have listed/approved events.

If you don't see your event listed you can call Lockton and if they have experience with the company that is putting on the event they will put it on the schedule for you.

One caviat we recently we told by Lockton yesterday is they only insure DE events not open track days. They require instructors on site, fixed passing zones, and point bys. Kind of strange since most open track days are full of the best drivers, tons of instructors, and no real entry level folks. But I guess rules are there's to make and ours to live with.

Usually, the accidents don't happen with the beginner groups. They are most common in the run groups just below Instructor, so I can understand the logic there.

Thanks for the info. I always got my policy from the PCA link, so maybe that's why other events weren't listed.
