We sold our 993 for a 6-3... No regrets at all. Loved the 993, but the gt3 is SOOO much more car. Still somehow has a raw feel ( noisyish, tight, feel everything, etc) but faster, better handling, and (gasp) more comfortable. Oh, and A LOT faster. Running up to 8000+ rpm takes getting used to. :-)

Thanks naroescape. I'm starting to get comfortable with the idea... I know I'll get flamed for this comment, but I had the 993 out this morning and was wondering if the GT3 will still have that great air cooled Porsche "smell" - both of my 911's have had that same Porsche "fragrance" of whatever it is - leather and burned oil or ???...

I think the smell is different, but still a Porsche. I prefer the garage after a spirited run in my 964 Speedster over the 996 GT3. BUT - I' prefer to DRIVE the GT3 any day of the week... Put it on the track, and there is nothing like it...

Hey Mooty (and others), I've been reading a lot about the "plumbing" issues since I started on this 993 to GT3 migration idea and it's got me freaked out - am I going to be looking at a +$3,000 service right off the bat since it sounds like a majority of these cars have not been fixed? Last thing I want to do is roll out on the track all excited with my new-to-me GT3 and be THAT GUY that blows out all over the track - I know how Murphy's Law works...
Any comments (to make me feel better about it...)?

I would think half that amount, and if you use the opportunity to do other upgrades, it's not too bad. I think cheapest is pinning since there is no need to send hardware out to the welder. Any mechanic can do the pinning once the motor is out. You can even do some of the pinning with the motor installed, but it's more complicated.
