Looking at a Houston gt3. Car fax says all the way up to 55k miles color noted as grey.
At 56k miles when car comes to TX Jan of this year to new owner carfax says color noted as white???
Already had one member on the forum who gave me his opinion on the car which I have yet to see in person, that it looked like everything except the hood and roof looked as though they had been painted, to include the door jams.
Current owner says he knows nothing about it and that it was grey in Jan and it was a mistake by the dealer who reg'd it. He also had no knowledge of it ever being painted. He works for the Penski group and bought the car from their dealer network.
I am concerned already about the first opinion that it had been painted and wondering if I should follow up with a trusted source in Houston(ex-porsche tech in Houston who I have know for 5 years who did my Protomotive tune and build on my 996tt and who I have worked with since then) for a second opinion and ppi.
I would by the car for 47k and it has 58k miles.
Thoughts?

never trust carfux: only trust a PPI from someone trust worthily. This includes a body guy who pulls the wheel well liners. NOBODY can hide the facts that bodywork have been done. Easy enough to get a paint meter to measure thickness as well. I made an offer on a GT3 at a Fiat dealer. The deal was that if it passed my PPI i would buy it. If not they would pay for the PPI. It did not pass, they paid for the PPI then auctioned it where it did end up in Dallas.

I'd say $45k or under would be fair. Especially if it's for sale by an individual. It's hard to judge because you don't see many for sale with those miles, not that it's a bad thing.
