The 996 cup windscreen superseded to the street part a couple of years ago.
Now you have to buy the regular street screen unless you can find old stock

Good tip on Spenser or Rick DeMan. Spenser is not too far from my house.

I did call Safelite and they said the replacement glass would be $700ish. Also, they mentioned they make their own glass so it would not be an OEM part.

I like having options

Do NOT use safelite. Inferior glass that many have reported cracking from the stress these cars produce. Also, they are not well versed in Porsche and can really do a number on your car if they do not know what they are doing. I have replaced 3-4 windshields on my Porsches over the last couple years and will only use the local company that the dealer contracts with. They know the cars very well and do a suberb job. About $1100 all in with factory glass.

You can definitely get Safelite to use OEM glass if that's what you want. When they did my replacement, they ordered it from the local Porsche dealer.

I believe they are giving you inaccurate information. They do not make glass for 996. Also. I strongly recommend you call James at the Tearoffguys.com. You will be glad you did. 845 355 TINT Be smart with windshield installs like LVDELL is saying

Got it, OEM regular or cup glass. I don't want to mess around with the glass especially on the race track.

Spenser is my first choice based on location and I will take the recommendation for Tearoffguys as another option.

Also, I can always use a Porsche dealer since there are several within a short distance of there I live. Just to humor my self I called Greenwich Porsche to get a laugh to what they would charge for the replacement. Part is $819.72 and they don't even do the installation -- they sub contract. So, I would guess to add another $200-$300 for installation. I could confirm the installation with service if necessary. The number ties to what Dell mentioned.

Resurrection! Still general recommendation to go OEM? Local shop wants $750. Haven't inquired for OEM yet?

Apparently you can use some cheap Chinese 997 glass but need to also replace mirror. Sorry, no details.

Is that a genuine Porsche windshield? $750 parts and labor? That's a steal! Have done several over the last few years and it's been about $1100-1200 each time.

Interesting to see this again. I had my car in the shop to replace my windshield and the timing with the installer did not workout. I had the windshield repaired for $75 at my house. The window is safe. At some point I will get a new one, but now it is fine and I already got a 1/2 season with the repair.

Aftermarket. Still waiting for a dealer reply on OEM.
