Currently at track... Low power beyond 6000 rpm. SOLVED !
Last year I had a 3$ hose on a 800$ fuel pump rob me of 2 out of 3 track days at Calabogie.
This place obviously doesn't like me as much a I do it.
Symptoms...
Last session of the day... 37 degC or 99 degF (scorching hot)...
Early in the session the engine power/revs became laborious as of 7k rpm. Took FOREVER to inch it's way to 8k. Felt like was abusing my fathers old Delta 88.
By the end of the session power loss started showing up as of 6k rpm!
Under 6k rpm... All is well.
No check engine. No smoke. No vile noises.
WTF?
Dear Illuminati... Anyone know where to start looking?
Variocam?
Coils?
Plugs?
???.

I had the exact same experience last year at Calabogie. For me it was a tank of dirty fuel. It ruined last two sessions at Calabogie and the first couple of sessions at Tremblant (2 days later). I think were we're also others who suffered from bad gas (petrol) the same day at Calabogie. Happened when the station at the corner in town ( forget the name) ran their tank dry. Would like to think that it's not a common occurrence but maybe it is. Hope it is something minor like that. It's a great track - even at 37 degC.

How would Durametric help to diagnose?
How can I tell if cats are bad without swapping out for something else?

Stinson ran out of fuel and had tanker come in at 10am. I needed fuel at 11 am, and the bad fuel story from last year was in the back of my mind when getting gas there.
If this turns out to be bad gas... I don't know if I will be either relieved or just angry with myself.
Fetched gas in adjacent Town tonite with the hope of clearing this out sometime over the course of the morning. I feel it's a longshot.

Well... Problem appears to be solved.
With no real options to diagnosing this at the track, I set out with the easiest avenue... to consume the fuel that was in the car and start fresh with gas from another station.
FIXED!
I believe that getting fuel from a station that had just been replenished (stirring up sediments) from the tanker to be the cause. Plenty of other track mates filled up many hours later and had no issues.
By principal, I ended up doing a one hour round trip to get fuel from Shell.
All that's left to do for the next event is to get the fuel filter changed.
Thanks for everyone's insight!!

So the sediment was stirred up, it clogged your filter, and when the fuel couldn't get through at a fast enough rate, that's what was causing the limited revs? Is that the conclusion? If that's the case then wouldn't the sediment still be in your filter?
Hey, I'm glad you're not missing any more track days , it just doesn't add up for me.
Have fun, be safe.
