Default OIL

What is the best oil available in the USA to use for my 996 GT3 for track use? Is the mobil1 0-40 the best choice? I am in southern california so it is pretty warm.. no freezing days.
What filters are good to use? Any links to purchase these items. I was looking at amazon.

I assume this has been beaten to death? I looked but found no answer.

Correct. And of course you couldn't find a clear answer, because it doesn't exist.

Any quality synthetic oil is good. Approved by Porsche or not.

Short oil change intervals and making sure to warm the engine up before pushing it are far more important.

IMO of course, but.. apparently I'm in the minority. People love to debate this to death in multi-page threads in which I usually post a pic of Danica.

Best,

I would not mind oiling her up... I think a baby oil would be prefered in that case.
I will go with the 0-40 for the car.

OK so I'll be the first to jump in.... Any of the quality oils will do and that excludes Mobil 1. Also run 5-40, as you said it's warm here and we don't need (or want) that thin of an oil.

Amsoil, Brad Penn, Motol, Red Line, anything BUT Mobil 1....

There, now back to images of Danica and baby oil or Mobil 1 (same protection).....

My new favorite is Total QUARTZ 9000 5W-40.

I did use Brad Penn exclusively in my 993. My C2 loved it, really quieted the engine and hardly burned a drop.

I guess 0W40 is the best. The specification of 0W affects the high temperature side also.
5W50 is superior at high temperature performance than 0W40. But it is expensive unfairly in Japan. How about USA?
Regarding oil filter, i recommend you purchase from Pelican Parts.
Parts number is the follwoing my thread.

No, this one;

Amazon Amazon

I run this in my car with a bottle of Swepco 502 additive.

I have high regards for Amsoil also. Saw great results from Amsoil in race motors.
