Fabspeed Sport Cat/X-pipe install
Completed my install of the Fabspeed 200 cell Sport Cat/X-pipe this weekend (SH|NC used set). Install went well; initally had a leak on both sides in the joint between the X-pipe to the pipe that connects to the header. Solution/fix was to apply muffler cement/sealer on outside of joints then apply the clamp (per Alex at Fabspeed). I cannot give any reviews of power loss/gain since it is too cold here in the Midwest. Sound is good but I honestly cannot remember what my previous setup sounded like. What I can provide is details regarding decibel ratings:
1st Number using: Stock Headers, Stock Cat's, Fabspeed maxiflow exhaust and tips:
2nd Number using: Stock Headers, Fabspeed 200 cell cat/X-pipe, Fabspeed maxiflow exhaust and tips:
Inside car with windows closed:
Idle: 63 dB / 62 dB
4500 RPM: 75 dB / 78 dB
7000 RPM: 77 dB / 80 dB
25 feet behind:
Idle: 63 dB / 66 dB
4500 RPM: 85 dB / 86 dB
7000 RPM: 90 dB / 93 dB
30 feet behind:
Idle: 62 RPM / 66 dB
4500 RPM: 83 dB / 83 dB
7000 RPM: 88 dB / 91 dB
Hope this helps.

I have always been a fan of Fabspeed even though they are on the wrong end of PA;-). I had headers, cats and sport cans. Was a great set up. Beautiful work. We have a number of tunnels here in Seattle and @ 7,000RPM the sound is sweet.

Wow Steve that's a great upgrade ! I would be very interested to hear what it sounds like. Looking forward to see you and your 3 at the track next season - maybe Grattan ?

Wow, just noticed that you had no muffler. What a great weight-saving mod, but I wonder if this setup would pass sound at some of our more restrictive tracks. It's hard to say just from the numbers that you posted.
I would love to hear it in person.

I installed the same set up - Fabspeed sport cats/X-pipe with muffler bypass last summer and I'm very happy with the improvement in sound and particularly the weight savings. The sound is awesome at full throttle but not a chance in hell that it'll pass at the local sound restricted tracks (Calabogie and Tremblant). I'll have to re-install the stock mufflers for these tracks. Not ideal, but manageable.

My setup did have exhaust/muffler, Fabspeed Maxiflow. The lower pipe on the X-pipe connects to the mufflers not shown. Fabspeed offers two by-passes which I do not have. One eliminates the two small cans (catalytic converters) shown in the picture that is closest to the bumper (but actually on top). Or by-passing the exhaust. I am certain either of these would make the entire setup much louder and would probably be too loud for some tracks. I never measured the decibels with the stock setup so I cannot offer any comparison. Murat and other Midwest guys look for me at Mid-Ohio, Road America, Blackhawk, Grattan, Putnam, Autobahn or Gingerman next year.

Have either of you noticed any driveabiltiy issues with the x-pipe? I want an x-pipe in the worst way JUST for sound really, honestly I could care less if it gives me 0 HP I just want the sound. FVD and Fabspeed are the only real solutions without going to a full Cargraphic R system or other really expensive unit.
However, several users on the regular C2 forum reported hesitation / driveability issues with the x-pipe installed and that's not something I'm willing to deal with. IF it creates the sound I want without hurting performance any I'm in, but I'm not willing to take a hit in performance or driveability just because I want the car to sound different.
