Need Spring Rate Recommendations
I’m moving to monoballs (RSS), uprating my springs (Hyperco likely), and and getting my shocks revalved.
I have been doing some research here, and read positive feedback about ‘himself’ and his results with 700/900. Dell likes this package as well. I’ve spoken to Dan Jacobs at Hairy Dog Racing, and he likes 700/900 or possibly 600/800 since I’ll still be driving on the street mostly. He offers a package by the way, which really appeals to me.
Speaking to others at professional shops, they recommended a split of only 100# for 700/800; I did not ask why at the time.
For about 6 events a year, with still being driven on the street every weekend, what say you?
700/900
600/800
700/800
500/700
Any guidelines for the split being 100# or 200#?
Thanks!

The different on the street between stock and 700/900 is barely noticeable. My wife doesn't really mind it either. I wouldn't really worry too much about the street, it's defintely doable.
After for tracks: if your tracks are smooth, you should contemplate 700/900. If they are bumpy, drop to 500/700 or maybe 600/800. Also, one thing that I have noticed is that without shock adjustability, rumble strips are very upsetting!

I think 600/800 is "better" if you do much street driving at all. Some of that will depend on how stiff the dampers are once they are re-valved.
My GT3 has 600/750 but with triple adjustables and when you turn them all the way down it rides softer than it did stock. I've been thinking of the 800/1000 swap myself but not sure it's worth it. Car is such a joy to drive the way it is now that I'm not sure I feel the need esp when I drive it on the street as much as I still do.

You pretty much summed up my thoughts there.
I had 900 lb springs on a non-adjustable damper on my old C2 and it wasn't horrible I guess but near the limit of annoying at times. I drove that car alot on the street.
Smooth vs bumpy track should take some consideration, as should amount of street driving, as should tire.
For a car thats street driven and run's nitto's I think you will be happiest with 600/800
I tried to convince myself to run more spring but I'm probably going to run nitto's and continue to street drive the car so I'm leaving it as it is. (600/750)

I feel the 700/900 is a good balance for Street/Track use. You will have a nice stable track car that can run in mixed conditions an still take the car out for a "night on the town" with out a kidney belt. So, many people over spring their cars.

I have 800/1000. It is pretty stiff on the street. It is great on smooth tracks, and I usually drive Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, VIR and Road America, so it works out pretty well. I'm 95% track, 5% street with Moton Clubsport.

Mine works out to being around 700/800 (with Motons) and I like it a lot. As long as you are somewhere around there with a 100-200lb split, I think you'll be happy. Unless I'm chasing a lap time at a specific track, I don't know that I'd be able to really notice a 100 lb difference in springs.
Pick something, install it and drive.

...Cause I'm in a bit of the same boat. I think I'm at 700/900 ish, and the car is beautiful on smooth tracks, but tries to buck me off of the streets around here. Not to mention that I'm amazed at the bounciness every time I come back to Mosport.
I have cup shocks (not adjustable), so next step is either go to adjustables, or go down on the springs.
So following this discussion with interest.

The longtime held splits of front to rear spring rates are not what they once were. I have had good luck installing the 700/900 springs in the past for customers in a setup like yours. If you were going with more aggressive adjustable shocks I would say 900/1000 or even 1000/1000. Yes many teams went to even rate springs front and rear a couple years ago. Now it has even gone the other way. i just installed a set of Penske triple adjustables in a 996tt with 1600 F and 1400 R.... Seems odd, but it works.

All great info. I really appreciate it. TDD, thanks for the links; I've been reviewing nineguru's and himself's threads extensively; the others are good too.
It sounds like the 700/900 is the ticket for my needs. Now to figure out the recipe for tenders/no tenders, and what works with my rear PMNA mounts.
