Sorry Jack, I didn't ask Ken to get that info on my car. FWIW my car was one of the first 6GT3's brought into the country.

John,
So was mine, built 7/03. Perhaps the hose for the feed pump part number...90 was the problem only, ...91,...92 solved the issue. Thanks anyway for the reply.

At dealer for tech insp and new pump. New pump does not have rubber hose at all; plastic, and much longer. Will post pics later

Default I'VE BEEN HOSED!!!

Last year I pm'd replaced the oem hose with the gates. Well this past July on a 7 day Canadian trip the gates hose blew. I'm not really too disappointed because when the OEM hose came out is was a soft as a grape. Just wish it didn't happen on the second day.

Now I got one of the new fuel pump with the plastic hose and a spare pump (the old one)

My second fuel pump and OEM hose is still working. It's was installed without charge in 10/06 with 5K miles by a Porsche dealer after warranty ended. The 2004 now has 7,600 miles on the clock.
Thanks for the update.

I also replaced the rubber hose as a PM, and a few months later the rubber became soft, and the hose popped off the fitting... Had a full tank of gas and no tools- ended up needing a tow to my mechanic.

Ended up buying a new pump from Sunset...

Paul, what kind of clamp did you use to secure the new hose to the fitting?

Regardless, sounds like the gate hose is a temporary fix. Good info

Stainless worm drive type hose clamps. It was very obvious that it was the hose softening that caused the issue, not the clamp loosening.

I suppose you could go in and tighten the clamps after a while, however I worry about that hose getting more and more soft over time, submerged in fuel.

The gates hose was definitely getting soft in the fuel. For those on the forum who have pm replaced the oem use the gates as a temp repair only. Upgrade to a new pump or if the new plastic hoses can be obtained use them.

Anybody know if the plastic hose is available separately?

TC87, I don't but would like to know so that I could update my old fuel pump and have a good reliable spare.

I seriously doubt it since the pump (old and new) is sold as a complete unit.

I'm sure the hose could be sourced independently, from McMaster Carr or other.
