First Time Experience: Slick Tires
Maybe i'll regret this day forever because i'll need a special driving license to be able to drive with a trailer. Then i need to buy a trailer and maybe a new car to pull my trailer .........
All because of today
Drove for the first time on slick tires. Man what a difference and what a thrill.
Car feels so much more controllable and stable. As if driving on rails.
First time and on very old slicks and even though i had a passenger with me, I was able to gain 10 seconds !!! on a previous best 2:04 lap, so are now at 1:54.
I am sure many of you must have this first experience already, but i am just too excited about it now that i wanted to share it with probably the only guys who understand

I have never driven on slicks and I am jealous! I just remember a few years ago going on semi slicks for the first time, and the kick I got...Maybe it is time for me to try slicks...

Haha, they don't call it the crack pipe for nothing 
I just purchased my first set of Hoosiers; I look at them every day in the garage, but I am in no real rush to put them on the car.

Sizes:
Front size i forgot (maybe 24/64) but it clearly could have used a spacer on this wheel as you can see.
Rear size used was 27/68 (and is too high) Heard some rubbing noise but it's louder on camera then in reality.
Did 3 x 60 minutes stints and although i heard something, i could see no rubbing marks afterwards on car or tires (?)
But best would be something like:
Front 24/64/18 or 25/64/18 Rear 29/65/18 or 30/65/18
I got friendly with a super nice company who rents out Porsche's for track days in Belgium. They instruct too and you can drive yourself.
They have 3 or 4 seriously prepped track cars and 'obvious' run on slicks too.
They offered me one of their sets if i wanted to give it a go one day.
Yesterday was that day and (how nice) I could use it again on the days we would drive together, if their sets are not in use.
So i came with my mpsc's changed the wheels and left on the mpsc's again
Running the KW V3 suspension from Manthey Racing. It's lowered a bit but not too much.
For the rest the car is completely stock.
Now thinking how to move on from here ...... do not have a trailer license (you need a special license here to trail over 750 kg)
Do not have a trailer and my car (volvo V70R) can only pull 1600 kg total.
So maybe this was a one off experience, but knowing me it was just a starting point
(maybe get a roof rack to start with)

Wow - surprised you didn't have any ABS issues with that tall of rear tire.
I've been really thinking about trying some Michelin slicks, as I've been told they are 3 seconds faster than Hoosier slicks (which I don't think you have there). On Michelin site they offer 25/64 and 30/65 which would seem perfect.

In the beginning the ABS was a bit confused so it felt, but after one lap I had no issues at all.
See my YouTube video above and you can see that braking went superb.
But the "harmless" rubbing feels does not good so anything 68 is too high i guess unless you adjust something in ride hight or fenders/plastic/chassis ....
I have just ordered a used (1x stint) set of Michelin's in 24/64 & 27/65
30/65 should be even better i guess but they didn't have that size.
Apparently the 997 GT3 cup cars that race here in The Netherlands do that on either (rear) 27/65 or 27/68 but not wider (?)
Will go to Spa Francorchamps coming monday and tuesday to test them out ;-)

Do NOT run that 68 tire! You will have ABS issues and the last thing you need is malfunctioning brakes in an "attachments" section of track (or any section for that matter). Not my GT3m but a friend ran the 68 against better advice and let's just say the day was cut short and needed more than cosmetic repairs.
