Any of y'all run a Miata on track?

I have given it even more thought since my last post and it looks like the winner is going to be a Miata. My reasoning is, as John pointed out, E36M3>SM>E36. Sure, I'd like the E36M3 but the cost to buy, maintain, run, upkeep, etc, is all incrementally larger than SM. I will not get stuck in the trap of "for only $x.xx more I can get X". With that mentality I will keep saying that until I come home with a Cup.
Now, I am trying to decide about getting one fully done or, gasp, build to my specs.
There is one local to me for sale that is fully done but I know nothing about it. Need to go check it out before I make any decisions. The appeal for getting one and then building myself is I can be hands on with the cage build as well as make improvements incrementally.
Michael, thanks so much for your all your input

Ummmm Buy it!!
You can catch a tow from me when I blow past in my E36M3
I have to say you'll be starving in a Miata.. If you plan to Race against similar it'll be a blast. You mentioned DEing. Therefore the M3 is the choice as others have said it is a fast car..
Buy an IP car the mods are limited and very affordable.
