Rebuilding the LSD
My LSD has finally passed on and I hope to send it out to Guard for a rebuild.
I say hope since I cannot figure out how to get the LSD passed the drive shaft.
Is there a trick to this that I can't figure out?
If you have solved this puzzle, I would appreciate your help.
TIA

Push the hoses up, push the axle back and down/up, then wriggle the LSD out with your other hands. It's a bitch, but can be done, forcibly but with care not to rough up the casing. Getting it back in is even a bit harder.

Oh, I found a great test for the proper function of the LSD. There is a tight turn #3 at NHIS. If you take it in 2nd gear going up the hill after the turn, the driven wheel loses traction. It will feel like you lifted the throttle midway through the turn as you spin of the track. I took the turn in third for the rest of the weekend, feathering the throttle. Still I had to catch her on nearly every run.

Success!! A buddy came over and I held the drive shaft up while he wrestled it out. We also loosened the stiffener for just a little more room.
I am going to leave the ring gear on and ship it to Guard.

Reasonable? Yes. I give it a seven out of ten in difficulty. I am no mechanic by anyone's definition but I managed it. I also have a scissor lift in my garage that helps.
Mikymu's DIY is very good. Only subtle differences with our car. The axle flange bolts are hex head rather than torx.
