Arrow Shark Werks 3.9 996 GT3 in Upcoming Total 911 Magazine

Hey guys,
Since the 996 GT3 does not seem to get the kind of press coverage it deserves, we're happy to announce that our 3.9-liter equipped 996 GT3 project car will be featured in the next issue of Total 911 Magazine (UK), which should be available in under a month.

Our car also features the 997 GT3 headers/cats with our track exhaust, GT3RS-looking blue 18-inch HRE R40 Monoblock wheels and a number of other customizations and track preparations.

Thanks again to Shaun Porcar for the excellent photos. Here's a sample of what to expect:

You can see the whole project documented here:

Thinking out loud for a second...

Maybe the 996 GT3 is the ideal market for the 3.9. Youngest cars are now 6 years old and many might be in need of refreshing, it's a pure machine, newer variants of the GT3 are up to 450 hp, they are more affordable up front so factoring in an engine upgrade might just make a lot of sense...

I know I certainly would love it!

I've been thinking the same thing. What does a 3.9 upgrade run approximately?

I was wondering if somebody would ask. I searched but never found any pricing.

$25-30k installed?

there is a 996-3 sw 3.9 coming to the NW :-)
I cannot wait to see/hear/drive it.
although I am fearful of what it will do to my ability to sleep well just knowing it is out there

^ Was going to quote that number but didn't want to be the first. 3.9 is a few more $k for the 996 compared to the 7.

So actually cheaper than getting a regular GT3 motor? Pretty good for when/if your engine goes.

Curious, why more for 996 over 997 cars?

Except that you also need a GT3 motor to begin.

Alex told my why the 6 was more $$ but I forget. Seemed to make sense when he told me though, something to do with the basic differences between the 6 and 7 motors.

Does the 6 have vario-cam? If you go down the list of differences, one of them is the reason.

That's some dear HP/$ figures, if it's correct.

So which is it, $25K or $30K?

Most people who would do a 3.9 have already moved from the 996 on to the 997.2s. It really is hard to swallow a 30k mod on a 50k car. Unless the car is abused, most 996s have a long way to go until they NEED a rebuild.

Regardless, awesome car.
