I wonder a same strange story. On a 996 GT3 checked, the report indicates :

Range 1 : 271
Range 2 : 4556 (!!!!)

I've seen a similar case on another 6GT3 but with less difference between the two ranges.

So, I wonder if it's possible that the DME think that range 1 is range 2 and range 2 is range 1?

Thanks

I've seen it said that the two values can be inverted by the DME, but maybe someone with definitive knowledge can report.

911SLOW Perhaps?

Thanks John.
Following the news from today, it is very possible there is a mistake between appellation range 1 and range 2 in the DME.
Value 2 is up instead of value 1 fix.

This has already been suggested but here we go again. If you can get a new report do this. With the GT3 engine at operating temperature, run it up until the rpm limiter comes on for a split second. Now get the new report and see which ignition count increased, Range 1 or Range 2.

I've thought to this advice but it needs two conditions. First is to be on place, sometimes difficult when the car is far. Second, convice the seller he accepts to run the rev limiter.

I had some odd numbers on my GT3 when scanned and did this test today. Yep, range 1 and range 2 values were reversed. I hit the rev. limiter a few minutes before we did the second scan and range 2 numbers increased. This thread was very helpful in solving the mystery. Thanks.

I've had MANY inquiries. Has not sold yet. It's a very nice example with NO track use, NO mods, rollbar, wings etc. If anyone here is looking for a 2004 GT3 with 29K miles in Speed Yellow, hit me up. Asking $69K
