Looks more like a joint marketing effort than a scam. Both in CT, both advertise the same mileage, same new tires 150 miles ago, etc., etc.
I would guess the entities have some common ownership.

Two dealers selling the same car is quite common, but both putting it on ebay auction is a joke.

I know very little about e-bay-- do cars actually sell on E-bay, or, is it just another advertising avenue?

I can't imagine bidding on a car sight unseen, it's not like buying a set of golf clubs or something.

Bridgeport, CT = Elizabeth, NJ = armpits of America. PPI would be a must.

As a copule have already stated, most dealers just use e-bay as a great way to advertise. My friend specializes in high end used cars and says less than 20% of the cars he posts on e-bay actually sell through auction, however e-bay listings are responsible for the majority of his sales indirectly.

I'm willing to be they both have high enough reserves that if two people were to actually buy through e-bay they'd have enough room to go out and buy another car and still make money on both of them

ebay is great advertising venue for the price. I think the majority of the deals are made outside ebay because the car is listed for sale in other places or can be negotiated on after auction concludes.
