Default Thanks for not buying my car.

Long story short, I took a deposit on the sale of my GT3 and the "buyer" after much tap dancing informed me that he was unable to get financing. He then asked for (and got) his money back after giving me a looong sob story.

That sorry chapter closed, I reevaluated the car and what it is worth to me. My conclusion is that I believe the 996 GT3 to be one of the great sports cars of all time and that the current market be damned, it is worth more than $45K to me. That decided, I did what any GT3 owner should do and I drove it to the track.

Frankly, I haven't had that much fun in a car since I was racing my SpecE30 BMW. Hallett is a relatively short track with lots of very late apex turns. Perfect to work on putting down power earlier than your brain believes prudent. The rear plants as you apply gas out of an apex and you gain car lengths on higher powered cars that simply don't have the grip of a rear engined Porsche.

After getting back from the track with a grin still planted on my face I cemented my long term relationship with the car by ordering GMG dog bones and toe links, new rear MPSC's and Fab Speed cats.

All things happen for a reason and I truly believe that my lousy buyer did me a huge favor.

Good job Alex. You can't go wrong in keeping that car. I hope when I ready to buy there is a car like yours for sale.
Tks for sending the pics.
Also love the dog in the pic. Looks like a big fun one. Love dogs and cars!
Here's a pic on my mutt and the car I will regret selling one day, even if it is being replaced by a 996 GT3.

Cheers,
Geoff

AJM54GT3...
Good things happen to good people.
The fact that you returned the deposit to the poor chap who's dream was unfulfilled says a lot about you.
Good on you, brother!

Holy moly. I was just telling a pal of mine about a bloke on the forums that GAVE AWAY his quality 6 GT3 for silly money. He called me to talk about a 9000 mile '04 Red on black GT3 that his dealer has for $68,000. He too was floored that anyone would sell a good 6 GT3 that inexpensivly.

Bravo for the world correcting itself. Don't make it do that again.

Must have been some sob story...it's not like anyone in the market for a GT3 really has too much to sob about. I think I would have kept at least some of that deposit...

Alex, glad to hear you decided to keep it and enjoy it. Everything happens for a reason.

As someone who was 100% ready to buy the car but waited an extra day to make sure I had the OK from the bank to back my commient it sucks I lost out to someone who could not stand up to their word. Such is life though!

Good for you. I thought you were nuts at $45K anyway. Go out there and make memories.

Good karma is worth more than a deposit that I don't need. There were many stand up Rennlisters who were interested in the car. I hope that they all find great GT3's; soon.
