Curious if anyone has seen recent acution results for 996 GT3s. Under the heading of Dumb Things To Do, I'm considering proposing a straight trade of my 11,700 mile CPO 'til Sept '04 for a 35,000 mile '99 Ferrari 360F1 (that's mega-hi-miles in bizzaro-Ferrari-world). I know where wholesale Ferrari prices are but don't have supporting evidence for the GT3.

I can tell you as a dealer wholesale is around $50k, give or take a percent, for your car. I don't go by auction results as I don't buy auction cars.....and an 11k mile CPO car is better than an auction car.

Or just take retail and subtract 5-10%

Yellow one on Ebay caught a 54k bid with a few more miles, I think. Seller reneg'd on the guy and got neg feedback. I'd guess a selling price of 55-65k for your car based on asks from Ebay, Porsche's locator, A-trader, Cars.com.

On Ebay actual sales 996GT3 are slim. Asks are just that not sales. It is an extremely soft market out there right now. If you want to sell you have to price it aggressively and most 996GT3 sellers haven't reached that point yet. AdamS has been trying to sell a 2007 997.1 GT3RS with low miles, CPO, Orange and PCCB's and is down to $99,000 at last check with no takers.

Nick-- I got the car. Just picked up the other day. It has a light flywheel and race clutch (supposedly both OEM and installed by Don Rosen). That was the deal maker for me and the price of course. Love the throttle response and hoping to installed MPSCs soon.

As it turns out, they got the 360 at Manheim, so I'll know what they paid soon enough. Atypically for an auction car, they got a stack of records, all the tools/books, etc.. AND I figured out the last owner so there's some hope of finding out a little more about it.

My friend has a good relationship with the sellers (bought a 996TT, E46M3, and Noble from them, sold them a few cars too) and modulo the normal can't-help-themselves salesmanship, they're pretty good guys.

Mostly, I think I may just want to drive it. I got the GT3 off the lift this morning. Damn. Damn. Damn. What an awesome car. I'm nuts to consider selling it.

share with us your thoughts on the car and I'm curious as to the condition, etc. What was the price you got it for $43k and change? I was seriously considering it, but I think I must have a cab!

Nick- the car makes a really strange grinding noise on idle but disappears right when you depress the clutch. Almost sounds like the gears are grinding. However before I bought, I quickly researched and found GT3 RS cars (w/light flywheels standard) make a similar sound although I've never heard this sound from GT3 at the track though most are Cup version and make so much noise you just go deaf instantly ! About the car itself, the interior and engine is in great shape. Negotiated for the dealer to include 3rd party powertrain warranty given the miles. The sales management at Don Rosen PA is top notch. The manager even offered me to drive his 993 after I told him I regretted selling mine 5 years ago. Only issue for me is that I have to get used to the fried egg look of the 2005 996. I've only had round light 911s -- 993, 73 911, Cayman S. Will be more active on this board to get insights into this new toy!

If they're offering a straight-trade, and the car has good service records and checks out.....that's a deal and a half, EVEN if it's a Euro model. The 360 coupe in 6spd is a fantastic car to drive, I don't think you'll regret it.

Yep, that noise would be a result of the LWFW. Get used to it!

I've been trying to find a good deal on a 996 GT3 for some time. There were a few last year that were in the mid $40s that were clean cars (should've pulled the trigger!), but this year both the supply and demand seem a lot tighter, and it appears that there aren't any decent cars in the $40s. I'd say low to mid $50s is about where they seem to be changing hands currently. I expect only a small price decrease going forward. That said, of course there will be dealers asking (getting?) $60s for them.

Hey man, if the 360 is in great condition and checks out, then go for it! Few people have the fortunate opportunity to experience a 911, but even fewer get to experience a Ferrari 360 in their lifetime.

If you start up a 360 owners thread on c-c.com, something tells me that it won't be as big as the 996 owners or BMW owners thread, merely because of the reason I state above.

6 GT3 is a strange market. Like what has been said before, private party deals are happening around low to mid 50's. There are some deals out there in the mid to high 40's for clean examples with higher miles (read 30k+?), but those you have to spot early and move quickly. I have never been to an auction and don't know gt3 auction prices, but I'm sure a lot of owners on here would pay a little premium for a clean example from other members on here. Not saying that you can't get a clean 6gt3 at auction...

That's true, there's definitely room for movement in respect to mileage. From my experience particularly with Porsches (especially for a later or more expensive model -GT cars and turbos, though less so the 996 GT3 it seems) buyers care a lot for mileage so I look for a good deal relative to the mileage, as I generally switch cars every few months, and would rather not absorb much depreciation. If I didn't care about resale, I'd ****** up a 60k+ mile car in the low 40s and call it a day! It's amazing how low little 996 turbos can be had for when they approach 100k miles also, easily in the low $30s...

FWIW, the used car dealer offered me 52,500 on my GT3 as a trade. We have a serious difference of opinion on the value of their Ferrari, which they claim they paid $68,500 for (showed me a copy of the check - "we always keep a copy", blah, blah, blah). We ended the discussion at my car + $17,500, which is a non-starter for that particular car.

If they're really into it for that much, they bought it badly. It DOES have every single service record from '01 until '09, but it also has unexplained paintwork on the rear bumper and one of the rear quarters. Ever resourceful with google, I managed to get in contact with the son of the last owner who only knew of a typical nose repaint on the car.

So, wrong car, wrong deal. Thanks for the input everyone.
