Need help on a tire question *updated*

Okay, you guys are making me waffle a bit here now. The 888's do not have the grip of the MPSC and ultimately neither do the NT-01's, I suspect if we talk same sizing.
What is different here now though is you have all succeeded in making me consider a 12" replacement rim so I could do 315 rears from maybe NT-01, Khumo or Hoosier.

Here is the spreadsheet that someone here made for tires. You can see what fits on the 11" wheel.
Since you are going ballistic today, check your PMs.

I like Nitto's I've tried several tires on other cars and keep coming back to Nitto's for DE use. If I had my druthers I'd have a set of Ho Ho's w/ me to throw on occasionally between the Nitto's to crank out a few faster sessions. But with a lot of the BS you have w/ DE's I'd hate to know I'm burning $200+ on a ****ty day at the track, when I'd be just as happy in Nittos.
To peter's point above. I do also swap rears w/o fronts.. My goal is to keep the car with at least 1 front wheel in the air in the turns anyway, so it doesn't get used as much..

Okay got it.
If I want to run 315's they will fit on my 11" rims now.
If I go to 12's the 295 MPSC's will NOT fit on those. No going back, in other words.
I thought a lot of people running 315 rubber had gone to 12" wheels for a better fit?

You shouldnt put 295 on a 12.
cups vs 888 235@295 bbs 8,5 and 11
real cups are really great when (and if cause they take forever) you bring them to temp and its a dry road.
But for all other times I prefer the toyos.
They heat up so quickly, and very important for me they dont let go without warning as the cups do.
I could say that they have the 90% of the grip of the cups comparing them in cups' best spot.
If you ever drive on the street they have the advantage of being about 100 times better when wet.
Negative for toyos is the noise they make you ll think you have a broken gearbox..
Then I tried 255/35@315/30 toyos which match the narrower cups for grip and then some.
I run them with camber -3F 2toe and -2R 30toe and aim for 32psiF and 36psiR.
Hope this helps.

When you say Toyos, are you running R888 or RA-1?

yes 315 will fit 11" i do it too
i also have 315 on 12", that's better.
to OP,
this is specific to 996gt3
if you run 295 mpsc, you need 11", it will not mount onto a 12"
if you run 315 hoosier you can use 11 or 12", 12 is better though not needed.
if you run khumo it's 305, use 11

Thanks. What setup do you have on your car [alignment, ride height, springs, shocks, weight etc]
What pressures do you run [my car is 3050lbs with 3/4 tank of gas]?
Do you shave the tires?
Do you have a setup spreadsheet for different settings?
Sorry for the barrage of questions
Just trying to figure out if I want to try the Toyos, as I have my car set up for Hoo-Hoos right now.

Discount Tire Direct.
245/315 18 NT01's $1,051.54 delivered.
Even better I got a set of RA1 245/335 18 for under $800 for the GT2 @ Tires Direct.net I am using them for street tires. To bad the 335 is a little big for an 11" rim.

What is different here now though is you have all succeeded in making me consider a 12" replacement rim so I could do 315 rears from maybe NT-01, Khumo or Hoosier.
Why I am even considering this now is this:
Even if the NT-01 (and 888) are less grippy of a compound than MPSC I am thinking maybe the shift up from 295 to 315 offsets that some, if not completely (??)
So, there is now a bit of a new question on the table. Does 4 MPSC's in stock sizes feel better then a set of NT-01's in 245/315 sizing?
Interesting.
If they are close, the NT's are $100 cheaper than Michelin's and perhaps with that combo on 12' rears I could take a look at a set of Hoosiers a season.....NO MORE!!!
My wheel order has to go in today so I need to pull the trigger here. One last question:
Has anyone run a 295 MPSC on a 12" wheel?
Thanks

i can't get rid of the BBS, which came as a surprise, they are IDENTICAL to cup cars, just different center bore. if they don go, i will end up with THREE sets. what the heck. i'll mount my own hoosiers on them.
not selling my khumo's.

E88 is the greatest wheel. Keep a set for your living room. No kidding I have one bbs wheel in my office.
