I have attached a couple of pictures. As you can see, crankcases with a 996 number were made in Austria. Earlier cases with a 964 number are German. I think the GT3s that came with a '964' case were Mk1 996, not sure about Mk2 996. Exactly when did Porsche switch the crankcase from 964 to 996?

i have an early 2004 GT3 (mark 2), the crank case says made in germany.
