Default "Clocking" r6's on rims

After 7 track days I finally wore out my r6's. (245/315) Great tires but I could not keep them from spinning on the stock rims. Anybody else have this problem? I ended up having to remount the tires way to often. I mounted my original Pirelli Corsas(235/295) and did not have the problem. I tried roughing up the rims, various sticky stuff etc. with no results. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem with R6s, so I started marking the valve stems and noticed that the tires would sometimes spin 10-20 degrees per session. After about 45 degrees, the tire needing a rebalance.

They continued to spin on the rim until we started putting hairspray on them. Aqua Net worked well and stopped the spinning. Yup, $0.99 Aqua net... You could probably use Herbal Essence though - as your tires will smell better.

Aqua net is the ticket. And as crazy as it sounds it MUST be aqua net unscented extra super hold (purple can) for best results. I have tried other with no such level of performance. Used on R6's and Slicks and my tire rotation stopped! My guy at Discount Tire looked at me funny the first time when I told him to DRY MOUNT the tires and spray the beads with aqua net only for lube to mount. Now he asks for the can before I even head up to the shop

The problem you had was you crossed over the threshold of braking g's that the rim can handle what the tires can. The R6 and slicks are the crack that we love but the price to keep the wheels balanced is a can of $.99 aqua net

Crazy as it sounds, that's the fix! I had all sorts of spinning on the rims issues pushing the g's I was and then the aqua net trick was the fix

It's not that the car feels unbalanced but the wheel shaking in your hands

Oh **** my steering wheel did shake abit back from the track on kuhmos- thought it was the low tire pressures( did not inflate them when leaving). Thanks. Mike

Thanks for all the great replies. I have heard of the hairspray before and will try it! I am glad I'm not the only one who had this problem. I agree with LV in that it seems to happen under braking. After they go so far you get lotsa vibe and shake in the front end, you can even feel it at lower speeds if it moves enough. Has to do with both balance and road force issues.

I would be careful what you use on the bead... if you use to strong a compound it will more than likely strip the rubber off the bead of the tire. I have heard of other slicks shifting on the rim but these are by far the worst, it really is just that particular bead design on tire.
I used to spanner for MX team and you are correct hairspray is what some used for mounting their grips onto the bars, they also used washing up liquid, when both dry they act like a glue.

you guys brake that hard?? i just trail...maybe i have more speed available. My coach says I have the max speed in the corners possible for my tires. I'll address this at our next session you can be sure.
