Default Tire wear questions

Today at the track I started showing cords on the very inside of my right rear tire. Left was close to the same. The majority of the wear is to the inside of the tires and I have not reached the wear bars on the outside.Tires have 6k miles and about 5 track days, pilot sports. Car suspension is stock, as are alignment settings. Is this the way the car wears tires or is this an alignment issue?

Thanks

Par for the course, you will always get more wear on the inside, especially on the rears.

How much tho? I was pitted next to him yesterday and the rest of the tires looked practically new, just the extreme inside edge corded out...

I had this with a track oriented camber set up.

Now I have 2.5 at the front and 2.0 degrees at the back and the problem has completely gone away.

The difference in handling is a small loss on the track and a major gain in road comfort and drivability. No more darting about from side to side on ruts or road camber changes.

Plus the rears now last as they should.

Dont let anyone kid you that its more manly to have a severe camber track set-up.

Generally, it is the ratio of street to track miles. The negative camber is more than you need for the street (and likely less than you need at the track). The more aggressively you drive on the street and the more track miles you do, the more likely you are to have even wear (though you probably won't get much more than 6k miles in either event but you'll get a lot of smiles).

Totally normal with the PS2's. Ask me how I know!
I now use 888s as my "street" tire and flip them on the wheels
for even wear.
Ran a PS2 inside out to get home once after changing rears 3:1 over fronts, and that was that.

I don't think that it looks right and that it is indicating something is out of whack. I would think that you would need a whole pile of camber to get that amount of wear. My guess is that the toe is out as Metalsolid suggests. I'd head into an accurate alignment shop ASAP and get some numbers.

take it from someone who knows. Too much negative camber. go to -1.8 and especially if you track with lots of turns. anything above negative 2 in the rear and watch your inside cord.
