So when are Nitto tires done?
I'm on my first set and although they are worn nice and evenly they are down to just the two longitudinal groves showing.

my last set lasted 7 days but wouldn't recommend it - the rears punctured on the drive home. 6 is probably ideal (assuming you don't shave them). by then the rears are completely bald and you'll get your best times.

When the two longitudinal groves are showing is when these tires work great.
Not in the wet at this point of course. If you are getting even wear I just check the depth of the little holes across the tire after each session. As soon as I see some cords on one tire i do not go out on the track. I have driving carefully 2 hours home on corded tires, then its time for new ones.

Totally agree with the above posters. The fastest times come as they get down to the cords. If you have to drive home from the track on cords, however, that could be a problem.

I quite like the Nitto compared to the MPSCs I was running before. They were pretty squirmy when new but scrubbed in by the end of the first day. I have found that 38 psi works best on the rears and if the pressure gets to 40 or more they go off. I set the fronts at 38 as well but don't notice a huge difference running lower pressure. Overall I'm not sure if I'm any faster but they feel more predictable and confidence inspiring than the MPSC; they certainly warm up faster!

until they go flat! just make sure your not on the track when they burst. Yes. until they cord.
Nitto's are my new best friends. Cheaper than hoosiers.."maybe not as grippy" but best bang for the buck that I know. three DE's and plenty of life left. predictable and last through the sessions.

I got 40+ HC's out of my NT01's and IIRC I gave a write-up on my thoughts. I ran them until they corded and they were BETTER as they became more of a slick! Great tire for those that don't want to smoke from the R6 crack pipe

I now have 4 days on my first set of the Nittos. They were slippery for the first day but have continued to get grippier each day since new. I like the rears between 38-40 but no more than 40 as they noticeably loose grip and I am running the fronts about 1-2 pounds less. I don't think they hold on as well as the MPSC, at least not yet but they are much easier to control at the limit: they don't just let go. As they break away if you put in more steering input they will continue to hold on and respond and that is a true bonus over the cups IMO. So far I like these tires alot. I need to check my wheels to see if I picked up some track marbles because I am getting a pretty significant rumbling over 80mph. Anyone else find this?

Damn accurate Dave. I even like the fronts under 36, rear no more than 38 psi hot. That is checking after a cool down lap. They do make some odd grumbling noises when driven hard at high slip angles on the track. But I agree with your assessment over all.

I like to run them at 36f/38r hot. I've also found the road noise is quite excessive and since I drive to the track on them, it's very noticeable in town and on the highway. At the track with a helmet on I haven't really noticed the road noise. Too busy driving. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
