Back from Monticello's full course. Three pretty hard braking zones and several other ones too. Happy to report that the ATE's worked great. It is possible that I sense a slightly "softer" feel or perhaps less initial bite but I can't be certain if my senses are accurate enough. Even if that were true, I quickly adjusted and was pleased with the results. I see no reason to run anything else. We will see about wear but Dan Jacobs (from whom I bought these at the TireRack price of $ 130 each) believes that they will last twice as long as the cup rotors. Here's some pix after the event.

On the weight question...I didn't weigh them per se but purely judging by lifting them, I'd say they weigh the same as the cup rotors. No gain, no loss.

Anyone know if they are replacements for the PCCBs as well?

Depends on what your mission is -

Give me a shout when you need them -
I'm confused.

DeMans are $600 for a set of (2) front rotors. GiroDisc are less?

Chuck,

PCCB and Iron fronts are the same for the 996 GT3 it is the rears where they are different.

Girodisc are 2-piece rotors: ~$600 for the replacement rotors + hardware ONLY (no hats). It'll cost you ~$1200 for the complete front rotors with hats. Sort of like PFC rotors, except Girodisc will work with Pagid pads and PFC rotors won't.

Cheers,

Less confused now.

Fellows,

I bought a set of 6GT3 fronts -- $260 for 2 -- from Dan Jacobs, Hary Dog Grrrrage -- they arrived yesterday. I'll be putting them on the car in June to be ready for the Metro Summit Point 2-day later in June.

I'll give a report after that event, and if anything comes up before then.

How are theses rotors? Are they slotted or drilled?
Maybe have you a pic?

Thanks

Cayenne rotors are solid- not slotted or drilled. Deman rotors are slotted.

That's what I thought....

Looking forward to more feedback from people who are using these. My current cup rotors are going to be the last set of these cracking wonders I'll ever use.

Cheers,

AllanJ- u be surprised to know slotted ones crack too on the slotted grooves. Didn't believe it til I saw HolgerB's slotted rotor though not quite as thru and thru cracks as drilled. I have the cup rotors as well- they show little cracks in just one day of track : (. Regards. Mike

Yeah, I heard they crack too, but will take longer to crack. I put on a fresh set of cup rotors for a Portland trip last fall and after the two days at PIR they were cracked. Not enough to toss, but the cracks started right away, just as you found.

I was going to get a set of Deman rotors until I heard about these ATE ones. Cheap is good as long as they work reasonably well.

Cheers,
