That car at US$55k would be Cdn$72k landed before GST at the current exchange rate plus the 6.1% duty. Last fall one sold in Calgary for that amount but it only had 9k kilometers on it...great deal. Might be better to buy in Canada if you can find a car.

Low price, multiple deposits, advertised for less, must act today..."Danger Will Robinson, danger!"

Get the PPI done, for sure. If they balk at that, walk away (they're doing you a favor).

Hopefully, it'll work out well for one Rennlister.

They are OK with a PPI.
No response from GT3North to my PM asking to call or PM back.

I missed on 2 GT3s because I was slow to act, or have the dealership take action so that I was comfortable with the purchase.

Proceed with caution as everyone suggests, but once you're sure, and ready don't fall asleep at the switch or it could go. L

Please keep us posted!

Just talked to sales-lady.
She said one of the owners of the dealership had taken a deposit Saturday from a leasing company. GT3North; Is that you ?

Therefore they have refunded my Amex deposit.
This is one of these deals where I feel cheated out of a deal (again ) but relieved to be out of a very awkward and sketchy situation.

Plus I dont have to sleep in the Doghouse after the wife found out "what followed me home"

Lightguy,

Just sent you a PM, now I read this. I guess I'm that guy. :-)

Any suggestions what to tell the wife?

Wow, I too was looking at/considering that car.

Great time to be buying a car indeed. Surprising that the prices are this low considering how many people are tempted to buy them when they come around... On the other hand, there's been a couple of 997 GT3s changing hands in the $70s! I don't look at these cars as an investment, however they are almost certain to retain more of their values than other Porsches from the same vintage.

is the "message":

drive the thing, as you are going to take a beating in both the value (plummeting) and from the wife?

as to what to tell your wife, GT3North, i'd tell her you just saved her 55K as it was 110K new. or rent a storage unit and just don't tell her.
