Default Sweet motor swap

Anyone ever heard of a swap like this...04 GT3 motor/trans into an 01 996. I have the complete donor car. Front end collision totaled out. I know the motor and everything should go in pretty easy I'm just worried about the electrics. If need be I could take whats needed out of donor. Any help would be super! Thx..

GT3 motor means: You need better brakes, suspension, sway bars, oh my...the list goes on and on if you want to make it usable and safe. And a collision car donor--oh my. Be careful.

Might get more $$$ parting it out.

A street GT3 engine and transmission in a cup car is an interesting thought.

That's what we're doing is parting it out. We had a customer inquire about the swap. I'm with you guy's, part it out and be done with, but the customer is always right. It would be one hell of a sleeper though. BTW anyone need any 996 GT3 parts..windshield back HAHA...813-874-1911

It can be done, but it would be much cheaper to buy a 04 GT3. Before the 2004 GT3 I know a shop that had a customer convert his 01 996 with an 01 GT3 motor and transmission - it took a long time, a lot of money, buying new parts. Donor car will help but you need to change everything starting with the wiring harness and the list goes on and on. When you add up the hours and parts, it would be cheaper to sell the 996 and buy a GT3. That is of course labor is just your time (your not paying someone to do it) and you get a good deal on the donor car.

I would love the GT3 motor/trans/brakes on a 993. I love the body of the 993. I would love to get out of the car at the track and say "WHAT?", I don't know why you couldn't catch me!

Is the 01 996 a c4. Gt3 shell is based on the c4(reinforced front end). Mike

A much better sleeper would be a Boxster or Cayman for that motor & tranny.
