Rob, thanks for the pictures. It gave me some ideas. I want to leave the traqmate in the car permanently, and just hook the display unit when I want to use it.

How do you know that the TPS is working?
Like Dell said.

The car doesn't have to be running to test the TPS, but the traqmate needs a GPS signal first for the following test:

In the display you can toggle to status (I believe), then you should see A0-A4 etc displayed. Floor the car and you should see the voltage top out.

A friend of mine is selling his here. I know a lot of guys synch up their data to their videos, so it can be done. I just can't speak to the specifics.
That looks to be a good deal. The Vbox is described below:

"The Video VBox is a stand alone 10Hz VBox with integrated cameras and software to allow direct overlay of VBox data into the video stream. I have attached a data sheet for you. There are 4 options available on the Video VBox. Without cameras and Racelogic logo, Without cameras with user definable logo, With cameras and user definable logo and with VCI, Vehicle CAN Interface."

http://www.videovbox.co.uk/ Look for the Video Vbox link. This device is a lot more expensive than the Traqmate and I can't figure out quite where that extra value comes from?

333....your product has video included. The Traqmate does not. You would need to add that and IMOH the Chasecam product is best. To have what the VBOX has as well would requires another $1000 for a single camera setup and $1600 if you prefer a 2 camera option.

Yes I realised that but with the setup that I linked to I was quoted about $7800au!! This is equivalent to $5100US. I am not sure that this is an option against the Traqmate even with all the extras.?

Rob,

Could you explain how do you mount the Display unit to the steering column?

I used the traqmate mount and drilled / bolted it into the top plate of the steering column. If you later want to bring back to stock, the plate is only $15 from the Porsche dealer (996 552 273 01 - Switch Housing).

Originally I used velcro, but wasn't happy with the vibration at 150mph.

I tried velcro, like you said, it kept on banking against the dash.

Good solution, thx.

I used thumb screws for easier removal as well.

I purchased the traqmate display unit dash mount as you shown in the picture above but it did not come whit any instructions on proper way to mount. You also mention thumbscrews but I am not sure why or where you would place these. I would appreciate if someone could better explain or take some pictures?

You don't need the thumbscrews. You will need to remove the top plastic cover behind the steering wheel. There are two screws on the side, one left and the other on the right. There are four screws on the front and you'll need to turn the steering wheel left/right to get access.

Before taking all that apart, find out the position of where you'll be mounting the bracket. With tape mark where you want it. Be careful of getting too close to the gauges. Otherwise it will be hard to remove the DU. I had to use four small plastic smaller around 1/4 high to raise the unit a little bit to make everything clear.

Good luck.

I just used some strong Velcro on the bottom of the DU and on the steering wheel cowl. I put some of the soft side of the Velcro on the back upper corners of the DU to stop rattling, and to avoid any scratching. It has worked flawlessly for 2 years there, and is very easy to remove to download. The install took about 90 secs.
Rob, I'm thinking about coming to VIR in April with ACNA April 19-20. Do you know of any weekend event April 17-18? It would be great if you could give me some tips.
