What is the fastest 996 (lowest lap time) in real life at your local track ?
Okay I'm talking about street registered cars...But still proper driving.
I'm a modded 996TT driver (LSD, suspension, tires, brakes, 550hp) and of course the GT2/GT3 experience would be nice....
A modded 996TT even though heavy seem to be very fast in "time attacks" when people are trying to find who gets the fastest lap time
In our local tracks modded 996TT is the fastest driven by one crazy guy, even though the tracks here are quite small (top speed 200km/h on straight).
Of course it's a drivers race, and I must say a good driven 996 GT3 seem to be very close or equal performance (and more enjoyable to drive I believe). The problem is that we have only a couple of modded Turbos and a couple of GT3s to make some valid analysis.
At the Nordschleife where we try to drive much the Turbo is crazy fast due to good power, grip and brakes etc...
We have no GT2's in the country and I'm interested in the GT2 performance. So in real life what is the fastest 996 in your local track? I know it depends on the driver mostly and modifications but I'm very keen to hear your comments!
I'm speculating a bit about going to 996 GT2 but am I any faster with that kind of car, of course it is lighter but on the other hand the AWD of the Turbo helps at track. So could you provide me some data...Due to stupid car taxation the GT2 would cost awful lot of money when imported.
A 996 GT3 RS and 997 GT3 (RS) seem to be very fast as well (but I have no data from our local tracks for these cars properly driven).
Am I right that for the same price I suppose the 996 GT2 with proper suspension is still faster than those?
Of course a stock GT2 is a lot faster than a stock Turbo which is basically a cruiser with very bad suspension. But how to compare a modded Turbo and a GT2 ?
I want to know in real life are people achieving better lap times with a modded GT2 due to its lighter weight or with a modded Turbo due to its better grip? In theory the GT2 should be clearly faster but it would cool to hear about your experience from your local track, because things are a bit different in real life...It seem in real life the driver is the #1...
So basically, will a modded Turbo driver be a lot faster with a GT2 ? Or how about a properly set up GT3 ?
So give me some facts and sorry for the long and confusing post...

Kaizu,
Track: Gellerċsen
Tires: MPSC, virgins
Drivers: Real pros
1.05.Lo - 997 Cup on slicks
1.08.Hi - 996 GT2, Cargraphic/RS-tuning, Öhlins chassi
1.09.Hi - 996 Cup
1.10.XX - 996 RTurbo, Öhlins chassi
Stock GT3 runs around 1.12-13, with modifications it can come down to 1.11. 996 Turbo is not even in the ballpark.

I cannot tell you lap times of others but here in Chicago : Turbo's and modified Turbo's can not catch or pass the best 996 GT3 drivers. There are some well set up GT2s that are modded to 600 hsp but they are harder to drive fast and the best most experienced drivers or Club racers do not own a GT2. In theory a GT2 is faster on the track than a GT3 but the hard core track guys get GT3s.

I do not know: I never time any lap, since I only do driver education events. As such I am not in a competition or practicing for a competitive or timed event.

997 RSR 1,34 (first time on track, very cold)
997 cup 1,35,5
996 GT2 (500 ps), slicks matador 1,45,3
996 TT Shark werks (600 ps) MPSC 1,46
996 TT (550 ps) deeply all moded, MPSC 1,49,5
996 GT3 stock 381 ps, MPSC but wheels 305/30/19 1,48,2 pro driver.
I was passsanger in my friend moded GT2 9ff (750ps) extremly fast. Believe me, there were not streights on the track, only turns. We did not measure the time.
My opinion is that only decent driver will go faster in moded (550 ps) TT than in 996 gt3. GT3 to go very quick need very good driver.

If so...
993 RSCS 1.49,7 - Amateur driver
997 GT3 Stock, MPSC 1.48,6 - Factory setup (no camber etc..), first time on track - Pro driver. (MPSC edge lost after first laps, so no option on running quicker)
How ever, Tor Poznan really isn't equivalent to twisty tracks..

The track is completely opposite to the one I posted above, which only have one power/weight-section. If you look at the time differences between the models, it becomes obvious.

This turbo is in blue/violete colour. His owner, Pawel drives very good. I call him flying doctor because of the fact that he is teeth doctor.
why did you lose the edge of your tires after one lap?

MPSC are almost 0.5-1s quicker when totally fresh and well setup. Once those virgin cycles are done, they get a bit slower.

My local track is Goodwood.
I'm no slouch at low 1:29's but there is a very good driver called John Page who laps in the high 1:26's as far as I know. I'm running Toyo R888's now & I think he's on MPSC's but still
