my technician has it all laid out in his head... I know it will be center exit.... and he is thinking that with headers, "cats", and new exhaust... he can get 20-30 HP...

I told him that was crazy talk and then I got an hours worth of talking just about headers.... worth a shot though in my mind. I just cannot see spending Europipe money for 7 hp... they sound awesome though

I bought SSK from Old Guy (Paul) almost a year ago and Paul included the cables... so i have installed the cables and not the SSK... I am liking this new set up. I am going to dive it like this for a while before I make any changes.

of course!
Next day is with Proformance -- 2 days in Aug ( I will get the dates when I get to my office) and then in early Sept a Speedware track day.

Edit: August 12th, August 26th (proformance days) and Sept 4th (speedware day)

Also a nice all day local drive taking place on August 22nd -- details on 6peed in NW section look for thread called Ice Cream Run -- mostly Porsches (about 25 cars so far) and we start in Greater Seattle and head over the North Cascade Highway to Winthrop and back roads home... really great local drive and there will be some great cars there. Very nice group of people as well... of course it is on a Friday in an attempt to avoid weekend traffic. There will be a CGT, 997 RS, a couple of high hp 993TT, probably a few 996 GT3s, some 997 TT, and some Italian stuff...

Where did you get the 997 shifter for $130? Is it the same shifter found in the GT series cars?

Well... to the best of my knowledge they are... I was at the track with an acquanitance who recently purchased a 996 Cup Car and the cables in that car and the cable that I had installed are the same color and have the same ends at the shifter.

If I had to guess, I would say that Paul had them to put into his Manthey 996-3 and then sold the car and went to a 997 and had these laying around.

He sent me a short shifter (black and grey -- not sure who makes it) and these cables. Hell of a deal as well... one cable is blue and one cable is gray if I remember correctly.

I see. How does the current set up with Cup cables compare to the 997 GT3 shifter feel? You wouldnt happen to know how much Cup cables run would ya?

I do not know as I have not experienced the 997 shifter

but cup cables with 996 shifter feel better than stock for sure...

I have no idea how much the cup cables are -- Old Guy gave me a hell of a deal though... I am assuming he just wanted them out of his garage... and he is a nice guy

I like the 7 shifter and cup cables. Definitely a good combo. NB its quite noisy with a LWF.

Mooty or anyone,

I have a spare cup shift cable if you want it. I'm in San Fran every 3 weeks and can bring it.

slight thread revival...

first track day with 4.0 ring and pinion completed and wanted to share my thoughts

if any of you are on the fence and do not want to spend $10-12K doing a complete re-gear... I would do this again in a second.

I do not have a data logger to prove my faster track times... but it sure felt faster...

If anyone wants to sell the 3.444 / 9:31 OEM Ring & Pinion I am looking to buy several. PM me in the first instance.
The shorter R&P makes the ridiculously long 6th gear usable. It also brings more gears into the usable range on the track.
