Is the Gt3 a good daily driver?
Hey guys,
I'm currently shopping a number of vehicles and I'm trying to decide where I stand with the GT3 as a daily driver vehicle for living in the NorthWest. I am use to driving rather impractical but need to know more about the daily driving characteristics of this vehicle...
Here are some of my preliminary questions:
Will it survive and not be beaten by the road conditions? (ie potholes, etc)
Any severe issues with in and out of driveways?
What other experiences have you had?

I know one guy in the Seattle area that uses his '04 GT3 as a daily driver and loves it. The only thing I would be considered with is the ground clearance. You would have to be more cautious of the driveway inclines and angles when entering and exiting.
Good Luck

The car is low. The front spoiler takes most of the abuse as it is 4.5 inches from the ground. Potholes will beat up your suspension and knock it out of alignment. The ride will be rough (jarring is more like it) on less that perfect roads...
I'd recommend a base 996 or 997. They are almost as much fun, and much more compliant. The real question for you is: will you track the car? If so, there is nothing like it. As a DD, I would have to pass....
Good luck with your search/decision.

My 997S is a much better DD than the GT3.

I certainly would not classify it as a "good" daily driver, an acceptable one, but not good. Besides the above comments about front clearance and harshness of ride, it's noisy.

shoot i drive a 964 Cup car w/ minimal clearance (lower than a stock GT3)
it's not the most comfortable thing but i would not have it any other way.
i did wooss out and install a stereo and put the stock seats back in (my only concession to ride comfort)
no A/C, etc.
you'll be fine - some of the parking garages can be a challenge but hell it's a car and you gota drive it.

If you are going to track the car, stay focused on the GT3, and put up with minor dd inconveniences. If it's not going to be a tracked car, go with the tt, or a 997.

I live in Seattle and have 52,000 miles on mine. There are some places that are tricky with the splitter. Now that 405 is fixed it is fine. I-5 going North towards Northgate is a little rough. Having the car for the last 4 years has been great.
