Very cool! With the deeper airfoil, do you also run with shims?

Yep - as recommended by Olaf, and the increase in drag is quite noticeable.

4 degrees for general track use
8 degrees when very wet
no shims when going for vmax

8 degrees knocks about 20mph off the vmax! But the increase in back grip and confidence when wet is very reassuring... like taking the fast double left hander Pouhon at Spa!

MM-Racing,

the front discs are Alcon 6 caliper floating discs from JZ Machtech in the UK.

I thought Adrien had them too ?

Yep, and they are awesome! I've done about 20 trackdays (over 20k miles) on them so far (with RS29s) and they are only lightly worn. Increase in stopping power over standard is immense.

Adrien,

you write you have the Manthey suspension. I take it you have the Manthey top struts and the KW shock absorbers, but did you also have the full Manthey uniball kit fitted ? If so, what do you think of it ?

With Performance Friction pads and cup rotors the ABS kicks in with very little pedal pressure. I'm only running cup tires and I'm wondering with your setup are you having problems with the ABS kicking like mad now?

Rob

As I remmeber correctly you drive front: 350mm Cup 02 disc with PFC 097 and rear 330 mm cup 05 997 with PFC 01 pads. Did you drive Alcon front discs?

Correct. I'm running cup rotors front/rear.

MM-Racing

the Alcons cost GBP 2.5k per pair (see the link above). I don't really see the point of fitting them at the rear.

Couldn't tell you how they compare in terms of braking power to standard Mk2 brakes, but they certainly last a lot longer . Quite a few Mk2 and 996 RS owners have also fitted Alcons or other floating discs. I cannot imagine they did this only for the longevity of the discs. But maybe one of them can testify here ?

Rob, that might very well be a tire issue as I have run the PFC's with the Cup rotors and now the PFC direct drive 2 piece rotors with no ABS issues ever.

2,5k it's a lot of money vs stock ones. In Poland it means 1 pair vs 3 pair of stock and 6 pair Cup 02. They can not last 6 or even 3 times longer.
I anly wonder why the cup 02 are twice cheaper and are they able to be used in the same way as stock ones?

I think they do last 3 times longer than standard, plus, when you have to replace them, you only have to replace the disc itself, which is cheaper than standard

I heard that the hats also have to be replaced because they get "sloppy".

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. It took me a lap or two to get used to the threshold of new rotors/pads combo. I really like the setup now.
