Coming over from the 996 side. Signed a contract last night on the silver GT3 for sale at Pepe Porsche, White Plains, NY.
Tocho1, I owe you for mentioning the car, big time. Not only is it perfect for me, an '04 with 4700 miles but the guys at Pepe are outstanding. Easily on a par with my best buying experiences ever and 75 miles from home.
Artic Silver on full black leather. Carbon shifter and ebrake, red belts, thick wheel. CPO until 04/2010. Never tracked.
More info and questions to follow. I pick it up tomorrow. I will say this, am thinking of tracking it (Watkin's Glen 2-day) the first time (cars first time not mine) with the pilot sports and stock pads as well as the stock alignment. Two reasons. Don't really want to dump another 2k plus into the car in the next two weeks and I respect the differences in this car from my 996. I'm thinking 2 days of feeling it out on more forgiving rubber may be a good idea.
I'm sure I'll have many more questions.

The only $$$ that is absolutely MANDATORY to spend is on alignment. Do NOT take it to the track without having it setup properly by a trained raceshop, etc..
Having an alignment that is off and not totally detectable on the street could very easily be a recipe for disaster on the track. Remember, on the track EVERYTHING changes on your exponentially (steering, speed, etc.).
Welcome aboard! Very nice example you got there.

If you are in CT take it to Farnbacher in Danbury and have them do an alignment. I drove my car at my first few DE's with the stock alignment and I had a few scary moments. Trust us on this one!!

Am trying to get appointment at Dan's Hairy Dog Garage soon. Tweak the alignment and new brake fluid should get me through the first few events.
MPSC's and pads later. Seats and harness, who knows when. Step by step.

WELCOME!!
I support the advice on alignment and also suggest to get it cornerbalanced at the same time by a competent shop. The experience of those on the board have found both to be off as delivered from the factory.

OK, she's in the garage!!!
Washed, clayed and buffed twice with pc and Sonus. My computer break is now over. Back out to apply Klasse sealer and start a few coats of P21S.
Next week I have appointments for 3m clear bra and an alignment (Hairy Dog Garage, thanks Dan). I will flush and fill the brakes myself with ATE Super Blue. The car is unbelievable, I can't believe it happened. I will do some nice pics when she is done and weather permits.
By the way, I recently did a factory tour and drove the Nurburgring. My last couple of post to the 996 forum https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/339741-back-from-trip-to-the-ring-and-porsche-factory.html have pics and details if anyone here is interested. Those planning either event may pm me anytime, it is nice to get some prior info.
Many thanks to Tocho1 for posting originally about the car and a HUGE thumbs up for Pepe Porsche and Gary Minsky. Incredible to work with, really.
One sampler pic from Germany, others over on the 996 board. Gotta go wax
