Default GT3 Cup Brake Ducts vs. Factory

Just received my Cup Brake Ducts from TRG (Austin). Looking at them compared to what is on the car, I really don't see the visible benefits....

How many of you guys are running with them, and are the cooling benefits noticeable? I want to be sure that this "upgrade" is worth it for the track...

I'll be running RS19s up front with Porsche Motorsport rotors...

(My AMEX statement just came in, and I spent a bundle on the PCar this month! Addictions are expensive!)

Thanks,
-Blake

Can you take a pic of the factory vs. cup sdie-by-side??? From what I have heard that help tremendously and save on rotors replacement time. Sounds like they will easily pay for themselves within a rotor change or two.

I don't have any side by side pics but trust me when I say that if you put the cup next to the stock ones, you will see a difference. They certainly improve cooling and are worth the money.

The Cup ducts should have an extension that is riveted on to a standard size duct.

The cup ducts don't look like much but they definitely work.

Great feedback! Thanks everyone. I will post pics once I get home from vacation comparing the two.

Thanks for validating my purchase decision!

Yes, please post pics. I'd like to see where they mount.

At the dealer, and here are 2 pics: (1) side by side with cup on bottom, and (2) cup on top of the what is currently on my GT3...

Quick question: do the ones currently on my GT3 appear to be the stock ducts? Both appear too similar IMHO...

The part number from one of the front ducts on the car when I bought it: 996.341.118.91.

From an old Rennlist search, it appears that I have the factory ducts (thanks to "mds" on 8/30/05):

There are three factory versions available, the GT3, the GT3RS and the Cup. I've tried all three. The GT3RS is the same size as the regular GT3, the only difference is that part of the molding is ground away on the GT3RS version. It looks like someone at the factory used a hand grinder on the parts. Hard to believe, but true. I tried them but didn't see any improvement. The Cup version is slightly bigger than the other two, but the difference is not large. IMO the improvement in cooling with the CUP version is marginal, but they are cheaper, so might as well use them.

Here are the part #s:
996.341.117.91 GT3 left
996.341.118.91 GT3 right
996.341.117.92 GT3RS left
996.341.118.92 GT3RS right
996.341.117.90 GT3Cup left
996.341.118.90 GT3Cup right

I believe everyone when you tell me that the cup ducts work, but I must admit that the pictures certainly don't show any substantial difference in design...

My car gets the RS ducts Wednesday. One was missing when I got the car and in a short period of time have been trying to figure out what my options were. The GT3 ducts are 175.0 and the RS are 185.00 at the dealer. Cup ducts sound like more $ and perhaps work incrementally better. i will have to be happy with RS ducts because I need to do something now ( being minus a duct) and I can get the RS style put on the first day I'm home.
