I thought the 997 GT3 uses a Japanese Aisin gearbox (996 GT3 uses German Getrag) - I think that is most likely the overriding difference in the shifting (unless I'm confused)...

This might be a stupid question...but would this 997 GT3 shifter fit fine into a 996 C2? I know it goes into the 996 GT3, just not sure about any differences between C2 and GT3.....

The 996 Super Cup 1999 year also used the lever/rod system that the 993 had. Porsche changed to cable shift in 2000 for reason never disclosed (probably since the street cars had all cables at that time...although more maintenance, it was quieter. Does this conversion apply to 2004-2005 996 GT3, I haven't tried it.

Will it fit in a '02 Gt2? I installed a B&M SSK and I am really not happy with it.

My friend just fitted one on his 2004 GT3.
Was he able to put his stock shifter and boot back on the 997 unit?

I put the 997 GT3 in my 2004 996 GT3. Shorter throws, more precise, stock shifter and boot fit

Hey guys, could anyone please answer these 4 questions please?

- I would imagine that this fits in the 5spd Boxster, since the B&M shift unit, is universal for all 986/996/997 models, both 5spd and 6spd. Can someone confirm that the 997gt3 unit fits and works with the base 5spd boxster?

- Has anyone gone from the B&M short shifter, to the 997GT3 shifter, or experienced both, and have a personal feedback/comparison between the two feels?

- Does anyone have the exact part numbers for the shifter/parts? Is it a single part for the entire shifter/bushing unit, and if so, what is that part number? Is it 997.424.010.00?

- Does anyone have the part numbers for the supercup metal cables?

Thank you very very much in advance!

- Chris

I've asked my dad to pick one of these up for me today, as he works at a Porsche dealer. Does anyone have DIY instructions? I'm a complete noob and not really a hands-on kind of guy, but I'd really like to give this a shot.

Hi Wolfgang,

According to the PET this is the correct part number for the 997 GT3 shifter. The PET for almost all Porsches can be downloaded, in pdf format at:

http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...&CODE=02&cat=5

These files make great references.

Thanks!

I used to buy the PET from my dealer, but my latest one did not include the 997 GT3 yet. Great link, incl. the actual price list

Regards Wolfgang

Hi Dan,

I've got the instructions for removal and refitting the gearlinkage on a 986 Boxster; I was planning on using these if/when swapping my 996 GT3 linkage to a 997 GT3 item. I'll PM you - if you then give me your email, I'll send them over...I havent got them hosted anywhere (sure I wouldve got them from here or RennTech a couple of years ago, though?)

BTW...phoned Hatfield OPC last week, price is £106+VAT for the part number being quoted above...not too princely, methinks?

Cheers
S
