Default Laguna Seca Resurface

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I searched and didn't see anything. Did the resurfacing of Laguna make it a faster track?

they are going to do it again this year. The surface was too rough for the pros. The contractor has to do it over.

Yep, I was just watching the Touring and GT races that I recorded from a couple weeks ago and they were commenting on how they are going to resurface the entire track as they made some "errors" while paving it and it was too bumpy. Oh well. Somebody screwed up.

Good to get back out there. Upper end of that range is where I ended up. Sans wife perhaps I could go a little lower. It definitely seemed faster to me and I thought it was already smooth. Hard to imagine it getting even better. When's your next event?

At the POC event in August almost everyone was 1 to 3 seconds faster. Personally I think it is faster.

SCCA ran there a couple of times, most classes are 1-2 seconds faster.

While bumpy, the track is VERY sticky and most complain about understeer with the same setup they used in the past.

I've been told by local track officials that they are indeed going to repave the track. Rumor has it that the contractor who did the job has done 2 other tracks and they have the same issues and are suing. However, this is just a rumor.

I thought it was fine. I heard people complaining it to too rough at the end of 5, but it seemed fine. I think the roughness adds to the mystic that is Laguna Seca.

The only place that I noticed that was a little unsettling was in 1. Car would get a little light and hit a ripple or two right at the apex and the back end would just tweak a little bit to the side. Nothing ever came of it, but it definitely felt weird. Could have been there before and I never noticed it - usually the track entrance lane isn't coned off so you can get a little more to the inside and maybe that was it.

i drive right to the right of the cones aournd entrance near T1 /T2 braking zone. i am about 1" off the cones as i pass the starter stand, i dont feel any bumps, but farther out track right especialy toward end of the straight, hard on brakes, there the rear gets twitchy.

1" off....hahah I wacked the cones out of my way. There was pavement there and as far as I am concerned if there is pavment there is track and you can drive it.
