2004/5 GT3 Values
There has been much discussion re 04/05 GT3 versus 997GT3 and $payup. I see many for sale asking 85/90K depending on miles on such sites as ebay, pca, rennlist etc. There are no bids on ebay though which says these cars are not bringing these prices or there is no interest- a strong lease residual would be 60%/3years which would be .60x120K or $72000. While there were not many imported in 04/05 it is still a more limited use vehicle versus a standard 996/997 due to ride height /comfort etc. As a former GT3 owner and waiting for an allocation for a 997GT3 the $ pay and real value at 72K pops out versus 115 for new.

I think that the minimal number of GT3's available is starting to show.
I wonder - Not many people selling - and they are not interested in dipping into the 70's?
I also like to think that it's such a nice track car, that lots of people may be willing to part with the car for the "right price" but are also content to keep it as well.

Expect another 2-3 years of declining values followed by an slight increase in prices with stability around 60K region for excellent examples. Obviously, the track queens are going to fetch a lot less money given the cost of a rebuilt engine. Compared to the S54 in the M3 at $7750 for a long block, I find the cost of the rebuilt GT3 engine amusing.

Bora, I am going to suggest another direction. I see you have sold your GT3 so you may be looking for values to dip, but I think that values may not dip as much as you noted (60K).
As we all know, the GT3 is not a 996TT (large production, popular car with the "in crowd"), and due to that limited nature I think the prices will hold steady - at the least hold in the seventies. Sure we may see an example or two that are reduced for quick sale (salvage title, repo, track damage), but the rest may very well stay firmly planted near the current asking prices we see often today.
Nevertheless, I have no plans to sell mine off, and I can think of about 1000 other GT3 guys that feel the same way. That alone should firm up resale prices.

Rabjohns,
Curious about a few details since I'm in the market for one myself.
I'm assuming private owner vs. dealer ?? Also, not that it matters all that much for resale but is it barebones or did it have a few options?
As was posted above seems like dealers out there are asking north of $85K for a low mileage (< 6K) examples. Also, what I find amusing is that they typically have- "never been tracked". But maybe that's not so farfetched given the stories of people buying GT3's for the cachet but then being unable to live with them as a street only car.
Anyway I'm thinking a little less than $80K is where I'd like to be.

I think that I am realistic when I say that the GT3 is probably going to stay in the $75-80K range for a nice clean car for a while. More beaten on and tracked examples will probably bring $70-75K. They will drop again when warranties start to expire next year, probably a $5K+- hit. As to the impact of the 997 GT3 on values, this should have already happened as any panic selling due to the new model should be over.
