Default Airleaks BBS Racing Wheels

I just installed on my GT2 a brand new set of BBS Racing wheels with Alu center and Michelin PS2. Both of my front ones loses about 20 psi of air in one week. Inflated again and the same thing happen. Both tires and wheels are brand new with 0 miles. Does anyone have any idea why?

Are the valve tight within the valve stems?
You could try soapy water around the wheel or putting it under water to see where the leak is?

I had exactly the same issues with these wheels, unbelievably they come from BBS without a proper seal/gasket where the two rims meet the centres.

You will have to have the tyres taken off and put some sort of seal on there, I think my shop used a kind of mastic ?

Mine are 100% airtight now.

Edit: just to confirm, mine are the exact same wheels, BBS Racing aluminium.

Could also be a leak between tire and rim. I have had this problem with my MPSC tires.

Ciao,

This is a frequent occurence with 3-piece wheels. it is usually either the valve stem or the gasket between rim halves. re-sealing the rim is no big deal.

Spray some soapy water around the valve stem & bolts to see where the leak is coming from.

That's crazy... especially for a brand new set of racing wheels. What's going on with the quality control?

Sure, resealing is no big deal but losing pressure at speed IS.

Wheel failure is the last thing you need to be worrying about as you head out to the grid...

Same thing happened to my BBS's.

It's usually the tire and the rim contact. Have the tire removed and put wax
around the rim and seal.

This should fix the problem.

I rebuilt my 3 sets of BBS racing wheels with new gaskets and new bolts and they maintain proper pressure. If I recall correctly, BBS does not support additional sealing material beyond the BBS specific aluminum and rubber seal. Mine are the Mag centers, not aluminum, but the wheel halves are the same and the seal goes between the rim halves.
