Does anyone have any comments on Arctic Silver Metallic vs. GT Silver? Does one have more desirable characteristics than the other?
I have had a couple silver BMWs and I really liked the silver color. I have a basalt black 997 now and it is a full time job keeping it clean!

You asked opinions and even though I'm little "off" from you question, here's mine. With all due respect:

Screw the silver.

And it doesn't matter whether it's xxxx silver, yyyy or zzzz silver either, it's still gray color and there waaay too much gray color Porsches (and any cars for that matter) around.

White, G. Red or Speed yellow are the most approproate colors for GT3s. For GT3RS, you can't go wrong with Orange or Green, you just can't.

I had a BMW Z3 with silver and I loved it. My GT3 is Arctic Silver and I love it, but someone recently posted a picture of the 997GT3 in GT Silver and I know it carries a high cost add on (Appx. $2200 more than Arctic Silver), but it looks FANTASTIC. Do a search for it (posted approximately 2 weeks ago and you'll see for yourself

I think your only decision will be "Do I want to spend that much money for GT Silver"?

I agree with the Finn on this but if you're going to go silver...then GT Silver is it!

I agree with Finn. Red, yellow, black, white, orange - basic bold colors are what's right for a GT3.

This car deserves a "Hey look at me" color.

But since you're a "silver guy" driving a black car, for your GT3, I don't see any problems you being a "silver guy" driving a White, Speed Yellow or Guards Red car!

The only grey or silver I like is Atlas....loved it on the 996 GT3 and will get it on the 997 GT3.

I've got Arctic (not by choice, I didn't spec the car) and it's fine. Personally, the only silver I'd pay more for is Polar (tinge of blue in the color) as it seems more unique and really appeals to me.

GT Silver & black wheels would look great...but equal $5k in instant depreciation.

i'm having the same problem - color indecision
but for silver? gt over artic! artic is just too light for me!
i can't decide b/t white, red, and yellow.
also the olive green looks kinda cool!
and my change window can close anytime.
currently it's on white.

Wasn't there a picture of a Cobalt Blue 997 GT3 floating out there on the internet? I believe it was seen at Le Mans or something like that. I remember that GT3 looked striking with the yellow PCCBs.

If anyone remembers the picture I'm talking about and has it saved somewhere please do us all a favour and post it. Thanks.
