Ceramic retrofit to iron

Ceramic retrofit to iron
I am considering the purchase of an '04 GT3 with PCCB. It appears the cost of retrofit to steel/iron calipers, pads and rotors is $5,200 for all corners. The parts department of my dealer believes (without first hand experience) that the switch is pretty basic. I suspect some of you have gone through the process before.
If you've done this retrofit, would you please let me know if it was a simple and successful process? I am on short timeline.
Thanks everyone.

go to a indi shop. It is easy for someone that has done it in the past. There are a few different solutions. Wrightwood racing has a great replacement. They only go through shops. He does have a rear replacement that you keep your rear calipers.
Some folks just replace the fronts since the rears do not work hard.
Someone also put 997 cup car rear rotors and I heard it worked fine.

Just get the replacement rotors from Wrightwood and keep your calipers. There is no difference between the reds & the yellows EXCEPT that the yellow rears are spaced out 10mm farther to accommodate the 350 mm PCCB rotors.

I was looking at a GT3 with PCCB vs. Iron and understand from another member that the fronts change out from PCCB to iron without a problem, but the rears need a conversion kit.

Still plays with cars.

thw fronts are a direct rotor swap for gt3 iron rotors. in back the 997 gt3 iron rotors are a direct swap. no caliper change needed.

Back: 997 GT3 Cup rotors - around $500/pair
Front: 996 350mm 02+ GT3 Cup rotors - around $500/pair
Unless, you're willing to pay $4,000 for labor (I will do the conversion for you for half that), that $5,200 is a bit off.

Thanks guys.
My $5,200 cost was for parts to replace calipers, rotors, and pads all around - no labor in that number. Not having to replace calipers sounds great.
So as long as we're talking, what has been your track experience with PCCBs? If you've got GEN 1 PCCBs (all 2004 GT3s are Gen 1 right?), and you upgrade to Gen 2 (not sure how you do this), is that just buying new rotors and now your set for life?
Once you've replaced the rotors with iron, what do you do with Pads? Are they Cup pads, standard GT3 pads (e.g. Pagid blacks), or the original pads used with ceramic rotors?
I could use a shop to do the work, but since I will track this car, I'd prefer to do the rotor work myself. Is there a good online source for Wrightwood or Cup rotors?
Thanks again for your help.

On my car I only have steel in the front and the bias is just fine. So I'm with Colm. Get 2 cup car rotors for $500. You will probably also have to buy new pads. So expect $1k + labor.

My understanding is that this works on the GT3:
http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p96172.htm
But this includes rear calipers which the posts above state you don't need.
