GT3 RS - official news from Porsche

I'm questioning this PDF also, something doesn't seem quite right...
I'm hearing more info that the PCCB's are standard. If that's the case then that and the carbon seats make the price premium a little easier to swallow...now which color???

0-60 in 4.2 seconds for $127K?!? You can do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds for $55K in a Lotus Exige S. Or even faster in a Corvette Z06. But then again, no one ever claimed that a Porsche provided bang for the buck.
Another good comparison would be lap times. I believe all of the cars mentioned above, depending on the track and driver, would turn very similiar lap times.

Reading the PDF file posted here http://www.porschecentrumeindhoven.n...rgelijking.pdf I am most dissappointed with the inclusion of PASM than anything else. I can go without the PCCB personally, however I would hope it included at the price increase proposed.
Also note the PDF shows that the USA car has a 17.7 gallon fuel tank and the ROW car has a 23.8 gallon tank this difference, depending on the density of the gasoline, would add 35 to 40 pounds in the final weight of the ROW car if all other things were equal.
I figure that the post earlier by MJones showing the request by Porsche about plastic windows here http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/pdf96/396372_web.pdf and the response by the NHTSA here http://dmses.dot.gov/docimages/pdf96/396371_web.pdf pretty much rules out a plastic rear window.
I think there is no legal issue with deleting the side impact air bags of the normal GT3 and installing the bucket seats so these are probably a given.
I am hopeful the roll cage mounts are at least welded in making an after sales installation of the bar easy- even if it has to be sourced direct from Germany rather than PCNA.
A lot of quetions still to be answered!!

I know a guy who can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds in his 1982 $5500 Station Vagon Volvo.

How TImely:
My dealer telling me that PCNA will be releasing the RS to US in Spring 2007. NO mention of rollbar, seats, plastic windows. Does mention wider rear end and carbon hood and wing.

From the PCNA press release:
No mention of Lightweight Plastic Rear Window as in the AG Press release:
Guess DOT/NHTSA glazing issues remain for NA
http://www.997gt3.com/SPECS.htm
List Seat mounted side airbags for GT3RS
Both US and AG press releases list Orange and Green as an OPTION color.
Options are usually extra $$ items for Porsche...
PCCB are an option as well.
As always we in North America will be the last to know...
This weight-saving was achieved through the use of—among other solutions—a carbon fiber composite for the front lid, and an adjustable carbon fiber wing. Modifications on the GT3 RS geared specifically toward race-regulations include the rear wheel carrier, split rear-suspension wishbones, and the carbon-fiber components.

If everything else is the same in NA as it is in ROW but we don't get the plastic window and rollbar would you still be a happy owner?? I would!
