Default 2007 GT3 Order (US)

Has anyone here placed a bonafide order with a dealer, or just a deposit? I ask because the release date is August, but as yet there is no US order guide.

As of today there is NO official order guide, nor have any allocations to dealers been announced.
I would expect release of both very soon.

As of today dealers can only take deposits.

I've been told at the end of this month or first week of June, that's when the order guide is expected to be released...this is not confirmed.

You may want to check out the UK Porsche website with the GT3 specs and options shown. This will provide you some idea of the way the car can be ordered in the United States. This was a suggestion from my dealer until the official order guide for US cars becomes available.

spoke w/ my dealer today....pinned him up against the wall and he said "orders" will start to be taken in August. Period. He also said they are not commited to the sun roof and it probably will not have it. (not holding my breath on that one)

re: RS in the US...he says it is unlikely as the numerous changes that have to be made to make it legal here are prohibitive.

Looks like a winter delivery...just F 'ing great...

leif997,

not to worry dealers are usually the last to be informed, just last month I had the GM of one the Porsche Centers tell me flat out that you CAN order a regular 997 sans sunroof. I said no, he said of course you can...he then recanted about a week ago...

Info is only as good as the source....RS will make it to NA...

Leif - The GT3 RS is coming to North America. Area reps have already confirmed this to some dealers.

It's like I said we ain't gonna see a US 997 GT3 till the fall, probably around October. Order it in August and pick it up in October. I guess thats how it goes.

if so, then in what form? certainly not in the ROW form....so is it REALLY an RS that ultimately makes it to our shores?

I'll take any version of a RS that makes it here. More than likely it will be a comprimise of passing DOT standards, but I will certainly take it as you never know if this will be the last one imported ever.

I suspect it will not be in exact ROW form. However if it's more track focused and most of it is like the ROW version, sans lexan window, roll bar and GT3/CGT seats I'll take it! The aformentioned things can be easily installed post sale.

Again as long as most of it is the same as the ROW (aerodynamics, suspension, engine if any changes like in the 996 GT3RS, lightweight body parts and lighter weight all around) I'll take one!
