I wish my RSA didn't have a sunroof. I am hoping to saw it out w/ a non-sunroof later this year though. A/C has been chucked!

Yes, Spyderman, why not get a Turbo w/ sunroof or Turbo Cabriolet...? I don't get it?

wow, so much hostility for someone calling themself 'king of cool'. why dont you publicly state that you would be able to discern a sunroof car from a non by driving it? i would then like to see you back up your claim.

i do get your point that p should let you order the car how you want it but rep explained to me they dont want to usa certify w and w/o sunroof. im po'd suede wont be available but thats life.

i had a deposit on a tt and cancelled b/c i think it IS too heavy and even i could tell the difference driving tt vs gt3. as to pimping gt3 i am getting NO options except chrono which i just do not think should be extra cost.

I can tell a big difference on the track when I take out the spare which is about 35 lbs. A sunroof is about 45....not to mention ***a non-sunroof car has more head room for a helmet*** I am 6'2" and need more.

Choice is always good, provided that the act of making the choice available doesn't interfere with the main design goal for the vehicle, which, for the GT3 should be pretty obvious . . .

i guess i just dont get this forum. must be i speak ferrari which doesnt translate well here.

i think i understand the purist attitude since my daily driver has manual steering. if i wanted a track only car i would get an ariel atom. my other choice for street/track was 360cs but dont want paddle shift. so that leaves me with the gt3 that the factory decided will have a sunroof.

i only know what the brochure says about chrono. seems good to me. if not maybe you can give explanation so i will know better

I still don't understand the chrono thing. A GT3 should be at mapped at maximum performance all the time. What the hell are they thinking ?

chrono will only be a lap timer. nothing to do with car set up. should cost about $500. will not be able to store data either unless also get video screen package which i dont like. can time each lap then see how you did and time the next one.

seems more convenient than what i used to do which was use in car video camera then time a lap while watching on tv. i never wanted to bother with hotlap out of car systems and cant usually get someone else to time all my laps for the day.

The Sport Chrono is not a lap timer. It's just a timer.

A lap timer will measure lap times. My HotLap is a lap timer.

A device that requires the driver to press a button on every lap is not precise. On Time Trials we get such a close competition that classes are won within tenths of a second. That can't be measured with a Sport Chrono.

Porsche has made a sunroof on the GT3 a standard feature. Ferrari knows better, they won't drill a roof hole on a F430, 599 or 360CS.

For the kind of driver that won't notice a 40lbs extra on the top, the 997TT is a better track car.

To second what's been said...35 pounds is noticeable and if you're timing yourself then you'll definitely notice it. Not to mention the fact that's its in the WRONG place!

Seriously all of you that want "pimped" out GT3's that's fine by me...I don't want to be forced into getting your way! Just like I believe you should be able to order it however you want. It seems that Porsche is content with giving us half of what we want and letting us do the rest!

Maybe, just maybe (this is my hope), that the reason the GT3 is getting pimped out is because they will bring the "RS" version to the States. Which even if the "RS" version is just the equivalent of the 996GT3 (not RS) then at least it's closer to what some of us want!

BTW Spiderman, why not just get a C2S with X51, sport chrono, aero kit and sunroof? This is a serious question not a stab at sarcasm.

and that is why the 997 gt3 will be the car it is in the USA. There are more spiderman the flying finns. sad but true.
A buddy of mine at the dealer said they have a ton of interest in the 997 gt3 just because of all the stuff. Guys that got rid of their 996GT3 bcause they were too rough and no sun roof are back with deposit money.
