Default Which alignment for my GT3

Sorry, again another question...(I have made a search with "alignment" with no matches. ) I need, once again, your help...

Which should be the best alignment for my GT3 ?

I received it ( 2003 Euro model ) two days ago. At the road and in the track the car was erratic on a straight line. It seems to need an alignment. Before going to the track It was inspected by my shop and there was, aparently, nothing wrong with the suspension. I chequed the tires and pressure was as it should.

I have no experience yet on this car, and can not make a reasoned decision on were to settle the alignment.

Help Please

I happen to have the infamous "Roland Kussumaul" settings... This is what I use. Here you go!

GT3 settings

Front axle:
Camber: -2.5º
Max camber difference, left/right: 5'

Toe total: +5'
Toe difference at 20° lock: -1°20' +/- 30'

Caster: 8° +/- 30'
Max caster difference, left/right: 30'

Front height: 115mm
Swaybar – 1 from hard

Rear axle:
Toe total: 35’ +/- 2'
Max toe difference, left/right: 5'

Camber: -2.3° +/- 5'
Max camber difference, left/right: 10'

Rear height: 128mm
Swaybar – 1 from hard

Wondering what an agressive "street" set up would look like? Car is going in after toe link change for alignment, this info would be helpful. Tnx

More front camber 3-3.4, slight toe in, if you want more turn in and don't mind it wondering around at speed go for even to slightly toe'd out. I still get even wear on the front with 3+

For the rear if you go with more camber it will wear the inside a little quicker but it does work. 2.7+, I like 2.4-2.5 for the rear. toe as above. Some people say that it's better to go with more toe in for the rear it let's you apply more throttle on exit, for me it makes the car nervous and I do not like it.

These discussions always get out of hand because people fail specify their usage ( % of track or street use )or style of driving. To start, Z06's numbers would probably be considered an aggressive track alignment, while 911 Silverback's is medium track which is still ok for some street driving, say 70/30.
This is also going to lead to the discussion of what must be done to get more than -2.5 camber in the front. There are many threads on this topic. You'll find them with a search. Good luck.

I drive my car every day, but it's mostly city. The front tires have even wear with 3+ camber.

Sorry, should have been more specific. 5-10% track use, the rest being "normal" and spirited street driving. I don't want to have to fight with the car to drive it. Just want an optimal and reasonable street set up. Or would it be best to just do the factory setup. I'm comfortable with this but just thought there might be some room for improvement without giving up too much.

I have just taken my car from the shop were it has been aligned. There is an ENORMOUS difference silverbackform the settings suggested by "911 Silverback"...(??!!)

Sorry, I do not have the specific Porsche sugested alignment for the GT3. ( On the provided shop's sheet it seems that the alignment should be the same for a 996 and a GT3 (?!).

I wonder if the settings that seems to have been done, which I read in the alignment sheet are correct. Those are:

FRONT

Caster R 8º 41'
Caster L 8º 46'

Camber L - 0º 46'
Camber R - 0º 43'

TOE TOTAL 0º 08'

REAR

Caster L 8º 41'
Caster R 8º 46'

Camber L - 2º 22'
Camber R - 2º 20'

After reading some posts on camber, it seems to me that I have not enough camber. I do not pretend, yet, to have a 100% track use of the car, but I would like to enjoy my 12 yearly track events.. As a mater of fact I don't drive much the car on the roads, not more than two or three yearly 500 miles trips..

I have not yet enough experience with the GT3 to feel if the car behaviour is the "correct".

Could you please help me ??!!

Im pretty much in the same position as you Ray i dont really have enough experience with the GT3 to give a proper detailed explanation, however i got my car with the standard MK2 GT3 CS set up.. well as far as i know as it came direct from AG (with cups)
I have been checking this site out now for quite a while and it seems a lot of the guys that do a few DEs and still use there car on the road use these settings.
Not sure who Roland Kussumaul is?, but he sounds good!! lol
I put my car in to be done to that spec and im really pleased with how it now feels. Before she used to feel a little nervous at the front to me and no where near as planted. Since iv had done this done it has given me sooo much more confidence especially at high speed.
For the money it cost its a no brainer.. as you guys say.. best bang for buck IMO anyway!!

Is it a mistake to use these settings for a car driven mostly on the street?

Yes. The rear 0.29 degrees toe-in per side will eat a set of street tires in 3,000mi-4,000mi.

How often do you get your alignment checked?
The wear on my treads looks really even at the moment??
