Lightweight 2 Car trailer?
Anybody trailer 2 cars???
Trying to figure out if I can trailer 2 cars (996CAB and a GT3) with a Cayenne. Since its towing capacity is rated at just over 7700# and it looks like roughly 6300-6400# between the 2 cars I was hoping there was a lightweight trailer that I can put both cars on so my wife and I can go to track events together without having to drive the 2 cars seperately especially to those track that are 3+ hours away.
Thanks again for the input!

That's what I thought. Arrghhh! Looks like for any of the further away tracks we will need to trailer the GT3 and share it during different run groups.

Afraid of that but just can't come to purchasing a big ole truck. The SUV is plenty for me and I will probably just trailer a single car (GT3) with it. Nothing fancy and enclosed just something to get from point A to B for the longer 3+ hour trips. I am thinking the CTT wold be the better compromise.

dell, if you do any overnight track days (like two consecutive days) GET the enclosed trailer. your C4S or GT3 can't carry spares. and keepings expensive tires/wheels/tool on open trailer is not as safe. i know of MANY ppl who thought open trailer would be enough and they ALL have upgraded to enclosed.

Good point. Since it is looking like a one trailer route we are going, the enclosed will be the way to go. Damn, this is a slippery slope!

I too went from an open trailer to enclosed and have really enjoyed the benefits. Aside from security the enclosed trailer makes life at the track so much more comfortable.
For those away events have you considered a set of wheels with street tires for the most street-able car and bringing race tires for it in the trailer? That is what my wife and I do now since I have a Cup car. She drives the GT3 with PS2 tires on it and I tow the trailer with the Cup car with her race wheels and tires in the back of the truck.

You could tow this with a big SUV like and Expedition/Suburban.

They had a 32' 2-car aluminum trailer on the site that was only 2300 lbs! Still, about 1000 lbs too much with the 2 cars. I am thinking the enclosed 1-car trailer for the GT3 and ALL the goodies for both cars inside and then drive the other car (996) to the track on street tires. Was just hoping the wife and I could ride together.....don't enjoy the long distance solo
And there is NO WAY that I am trading up to a Suburban/Truck/etc. to pull the two cars. Oh the sacrifices!

I tow a spec Miata in a 18' v nose ATC aluminum enclosed trailer with my Cayenne S, with PASM. I would also HIGHLY recommend an enclosed trailer as it's a great place to sit, discuss, rest, watch races on TV, etc OUT of the sun, or rain when in the pits. I have been very happy with my Aluminum Trailer Company trailer- good workmanship, etc.
