[QUOTE=GrantG]They need to crash test the car anyways, no matter how it's going to be equipped (especially with the low ride height), so I don't see how that matters...

Currently they would get a wave thru as the 997 has already done all the testing. By materially altering the body parts with all your changes, they would need to start a whole new test program, even tho your changes probably make it a safer car anyway.

I thought 996 GT3's had been crashed test irregardless of other 996 crash testing due to suspension changes. If this is the case then Grant has a point.

One other question how many of you would buy a 997 GT3 if my wish list became reality?!?

The other reason they will need to crash test the GT3 (besides the low ride height) is the lack of sunroof. You could not order a sunroof-delete 997, because they didn't want to crash-test 2 versions when so few people deleted the sunroof on a 997. The GT3 will have no sunroof and it will be crash tested...

Having said that here's my wish list:

997GT3:

1) 3.8L producing 430 bhp or more (it will be true dry sump derived from 964/GT1 block)
2) RS (996 GT3RS) type suspension or better
3) 3000 lbs or less
4) Carbon Fibre hood
5) Carbon Fibre decklid with cup car intake
6) NO SUNROOF or SAT NAV and NO CUP HOLDERS (on principle)
7) AC and Radio delete options
8) PCCB (optional)
9) DSG/PDK (optional)
10) No sound deadening junk
11) Interior of doors like the 993 RS but with Alcantara (optional)
12) Carbon Fibre roof ala 2006/7 BMW M6
13) No power windows (optional) (weight saving purposes)
14) Super light weight wheels
15) Light Fly wheel
16) Carbon Fibre fenders
17) Titanium exhaust
18) Light weight Seats (two only of course)
19) Oil Temp gauge

In other words stripped down, light weight RS version and all with an MSRP of $110K.

And one last thing...make it available in America!!
NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' 'BOUT!!!!!! YEAH, BABY!!

I agree on EVERY SINGLE POINT. You know what this car is about, let's hope Porsche remembers. Especially 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 11, and 12.

I thought it was a rhetorical question. I just figured everyone on this board would be in

I'm in too. However, a rear bumper cover in CF would be better than the front hood. I prefer a lighter tail.

By the way, if PCCB is standard, I'll cancel my order...

Why I've heard Gen II PCCB is great and it's what they used in the 997GT3 Supercup during 2005. And supposedly they worked great.

Do you have information to the contrary?

I am also in. I look forward to the official specs.

Although I don't have any contacts at the factory, I think that from a marketing point of view it doesn't make sense for Porsche to produce a 997 GT3 with anything but the GT1 based engine. If they use the current 997 he hard core guys won't buy it and would just as well keep their current GT3's or buy one on the used market if they don't already own one. The 997s and X51 market is totally different than the GT3 market driven by hard core enthusists and Porsche knows this.

Another queston to ask would be: If the 997 GT3 does not use the GT1 engine would you still buy it?

I would not.

Porsche never officially said anything about this so called 2nd PCCB generation. For all I know, PCCB has not been upgraded. I also know first hand that PCCB is inferior to traditional braking systems [my opinion] from a stopping power point of view (not weight) and that Porsche won't stand behind it in case of failure. So really, I have zero incentive to give it another try.

I don't have any data about PCCB on 997 cups. It would be interesting to get feedback from race teams. Also, another good test would be to verify that teams are indeed using PCCB in non cup races, when the car performance really matters.

I don't think I would. It would be more cost effective to buy a CS with aerokit and then replace the suspensions.

Also relocating that battery would be great too. Mike
