Unlucky for me Holger- but had to work today my associate was sick today and had to take his place

If you are expecting a 400bhp (I assume at the wheel) you will need various new Motorsport hardware and a ECU (Motec perhaps and ditched VANOS) with many hours of dyno-time. Even if you start with a complete E46 CSL motor, you better be prepared for a major investment; then again you guys are in the GT3 price-range.
My opinion is that you feel you need more torque; you might want to look into the current gearing setup in your transmission.

Well, what I meant and I think you understood this is just that.
You can mod the s54 untill it dies. It takes lots of money to get to 400hp, and NO, I mean crank. The PTG guys were getting like 410ish HP and those motors lasted 1 race and cost more then most cars.
That being said, it would still be cheaper to buy a 6cy then the V8 and get more power from the 6 then the 8.
