I drove a GT2 at Watkins Glen during a DE weekend when I had my car there. It was setup like my car, with the same tires. After 8 laps I was about 3 seconds faster in the GT2. Bob Rouleau, who owned both concurrently, reported that he was also about 3 seconds faster in the GT2 at Mt. Tremblant.

If you 've never driven a turbo before a modded 996tt would be an easier and better transition into high hp car. The GT2 is a whole different car. The GT2 is not a GT3 with turbos and more hp. There will be a steep learning curve making the transition from the GT3 to GT2. That is if you want to use it to its fullest potential.
IMO a modded 3.8L 993TT or Rt12 05 have the raw torque of the GT3 and the high HP of the GT2, the best of both world.

be carefule. recent stats show 33% of GT2's in the USA have been wrecked at some time. They are unbelievably tough to control if you get a little throttle happy. I have had three turbos two of which where 996 models. the four wheel drive and psm are life savers. Why dont you consider a 996 turbo with the X50 package. all the power but much more safe. You can buy one of those for the same or less than the cost of your GT3. color of the car is awesome by the way

33%, 1 of 3 GT2 have been wrecked? That sounds scary, especially if shopping for one. That's 100 wrecked GT2 out of the 299 sold.
Let's see, same alignment issues as the GT3 but more torque ==> unexpected off track excursion.

33% GT2 at the track maybe??

The problem with the GT2's handlimg is mostly due to the progressive springs and the xtra weight at the rear. It makes the rear come around to fast when the turbos kick in. A set of motons could really transform the car's handling by dialing out the bad habits.

I love all the self-proclaimed experts on this car. How many of you have driven one on the track? I found the one that I drove to be very predictable, and manageable on the stock suspension. It was no more difficult than my GT3, although you did have to adjust your lines to allow for the buildup of boost. It would not surprise me to find out that most of the GT2s being wrecked were on the street, by drivers who don't have the experience with that much power.
