Default GT3 pads the same as GT2?

Just curious if the pads are the same? In one application I saw that they were the same, in another, they were not. Anybody confirm this? I am going to try a different street pad...more of a Kevlar based pad, just to try it out. But I only see an app for a GT2. TIA! Tim

Cool. So if I buy a pad for a GT2 fitment, then it should fit! Thanks! Tim

Yup, having one of each I confirm, the front pads are the same. Not so sure about the rear ones, GT2 with PCCB has 350 mm rotors front and back and the GT3 with steel has 350 F and 330 mm Rear.

Best,

Best,
Hmmm. I know little about the GT2. Do they all have PCCB, or was that an option? If an option, then I guess the next question is if the rears (non-PCCB) of the GT3 and GT2 are the same....anybody know?

Fox - All GT2's sold by PCNA ini North America came with PCCB. Rotors are 350 mm in diameter front and rear. GT3's delivered with PCCB have the same brakes as the GT2 and use the same rotors and pads.

GT3's with cast iron rotors use 350 mm diameter rotors in front and 330 mm in the rear. I know the front pads are identical.

Many GT2s (mine included) were converted to GT2 cast iron brakes. The cast iron rotors are 350 mm in front and 330 mm in the rear, identical to GT3 with iron rotors. The only difference is that the GT2 caplipers are yellow in back. In the conversion the GT2 keeps the origianl PCCB front calipers and gets different rear calipers to deal with the 330 mm (smaller) cast iron rear rotor.

Does this answer the question in more detail? As I said, I know the front pads are identical, I am not sure about the rear since the PCCB rotors are 20 mm larger in diameter in the rear.

regards,

Bob:

Rear pads are identical as well between steel rotors (330mm) and PCCB rotors (350mm).

GT2 and GT3 PCCB are the same. My PCCB came from a GT2 and they're using my steel rotors brake pads (RS19).

There are different stock compounds from Porsche. They might have different part numbers.

Anyway, RS19 is the only way to go in my opinion.

I have the RS19's right now. IMHO, they are a bit too aggressive for MY street use...ie: 6 miles or so to work. I never come close to getting them to temp around town...they always groan, squeak, and growl and continue to eat rotor. I think I would rather have a "softer" pad for the street, then just make the swap at the track. That is what I did in my M3 and was happy with it.

So, I was snooping around and found some pads for a GT2 fitment, but no mention of a GT3 fitment. Then, on another site, saw a GT2/GT3 fitment for a different pad. Hence my question.

Apparently the front and rear pad SIZE is the same GT2 or GT3, PCCB or Steel! The pad composition may vary between stock pads for each model. Thanks for the answers! Tim

Are the stock brake pads from the GT2 a different formulation then the stock GT3 pads or they are all the same. Since GT2 has more power/trq I assume it'sa different formulation. RS-19's do make quite abit of noise in the strrets but great at the track. Another question is with RS 19 pads do they show cracks at all. Mine has some small cracks when my front rotors were changed out. Still plenty of life in them but is that normal? Regards. Mike
